Alternately: great "booms" in music history.

Sterling Clover, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

L'Trimm, even though I haven't heard it in several years. No brainer for me.

Andy K, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Boom Boom Boom Boom" (Gonna Shootcha Right Down) does same

Boom Boom Boom Let's Go Back to My Room roXor

Boom Boom Let Me Hear You Say "Way-Oh" is the kind of song that I should theoretically enjoy but in reality I harbor nothing for it but a kind of weary yet hardened hate.

"Boom! Shake The Room" stands as the high watermark of Will Smith's musical career, even surpassing that bit where he goes "Yeah, more like "Micro-soft"" in "Will2K".

And then there's "Boom Boom Boom" by the ever shite Outhere Brothers.

"Boom Boom in the Zoom Zoom Room" by Blondie.

The actual thread question here is tougher than I thought. I immediately want to say yeah, L'Trimm, but maybe familiarity has bred contempt a bit and really I'd prefer to hear the Vengaboys. I miss the Vengaboys. Judd is right about Boom! Shake The Room being excellent though overall it isn't as good as "Will 2K". Of more obscure booms, I love Scritti Politti's "Boom! There She Was" dearly but in this exalted company it can't compete.

I've never heard the Vengaboys, but it'd be tough to top the brilliance of Tigra and Bunny.

Other great booms: "Chick-a-Boom" by Daddy Dewdrop and "Bang a Boomerang" by Abba.

No more booms. What about a bang? She Bangs.

JM, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

boom:

vengaboys: utterly execrable! l'trimm: brilliant! l'trimm is every bit as playful and funky as vengaboys is dreary, souless and devoid of life. NO CONTEST WHATSOEVER.

minna, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

its gotta be l'trimm, surely. no doubt about it.

fran, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

can we have it in the name of the act, cuz i'd like to posit the pop with hint of garage non-smash from last year 'fallin' by Boom! featuring that Johnny dude, now in hear'say. timing, he aint got it

gareth, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What about other explosions / collisions in song titles (not counting POP, of course)? There's always WHOOMP! I can't think of any w/ POW, though. Except "POWer of Love", oh yeah.

Daver, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Biff Bang Pow"

Tom, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

How could I forget Genius Cru's excellent "boom boom boom selecta" which nearly tops the vengaboys?

Also, Roxette -- "Crash, Boom, Bang!"

I was walking down the street and it was getting mighty late. Well the truth of the matter is this poor girl had been abandoned by her date. When from out of nowhere came this music loud and clear. Let me see... from over there? "No, over there" Over there? "Yeeah". Well I opened up the door and much to my surprise the girls were wearing formals, and the boys were wearing ties. And I feel that I should mention that the band was at attention. They just stood there all so neat while they played that swinging beat. So I grabbed this little boy who came strutting across the room. I said, "What's that?" And he said, "Sophisticated boom boom."

eight months pass...
I'm leaning more to the Vengaboys lately.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Monday, 16 December 2002 06:45 (twenty-three years ago)

seven months pass...
Why is "Boom (Shake the Room)" not as good as "Will2K"? (Not saying it is)
