wait a minute i dont love crosby stills & nash! i always get them confused with creedence clearwater revival. sorry, i wish i knew enough about cs&n to make a fun connection between them and sister sledge. im sure someone else will soon! im going away to my big bowl of strawberry icecream

For "Lost in Music" alone Sister Sledge destroys that bag of wet hemp.

Both groups have at least one song I hope I never hear again as long as I live, but I'll go with CS&Y based on the good things they'd done prior.

i always dug Wooden Ships, and the stuff with Neil improves things a lot, but otherwise,CSN is the stuff that gave Classic Rock a bad name. How is that first Crosby solo joint? I sampled a few tunes once, couldn't tell if it was pretentious hippie piffle or a kind of stoned semi-genius thing. Crosby has always been kind of insufferable, but Lady Friend is one of my all-time faves, so there you go.

Sister Sledge aren't so great for having that one song that nobody needs to hear again, don't remember the other singles. In retrospect, the 79 Pirates were lame (Stargell excepted)

haha, i haven't thought about that dude in at least 20 years. but fuck a Richie Hebner.

timmy tannin (pompous), Saturday, 3 June 2006 15:15 (nineteen years ago)

oh wait, he wasn't on the 79 team. How about Dave Parker?

timmy tannin (pompous), Saturday, 3 June 2006 15:16 (nineteen years ago)

Impossible to put them up against each other, except CNY is better. :)

I like "We Are Family". Not too keen on the rest of Sister Sledge's output (Chic kept the best songs to themselves)

Whereas CSN released two excellent albums (one with Neil Young) in 69-70, crowded with great songs (after that there hasn't been a lot of quality material though)

hey 'we are family' and 'all american girls'are great albums (chic didnt do american girls)! and then geir youre probably complaining about 'love somebody today' which i agree is a bit dull

karri miback (cruisy), Sunday, 4 June 2006 03:27 (nineteen years ago)

Okay we all know the Sisters P0wn those boring hippies right?

Love Somebody Today is a fantastic album = NOT dull

I am first and foremost familiar with their earlier material, and I have never been particularly fond of "Thinking Of You" nor "Lost In Music".

timmy, no matter how hard it is to take that melissa-etheridge-sperm-popsicle-triad-crackhead-liver-sucker seriously, the solo crosby joint is classick.

imbidimts (imbidimts), Sunday, 4 June 2006 20:39 (nineteen years ago)

Dave you cannot keep inflicting those TSes on people. Certainly not without taking sides yourself.

And as much as I stay away from them, Sister Sledge ev'ry time. "Pretty Baby", "I'm A Good Girl", "How To Love" are indecent tearjerkers that still remain preferable to their male hippie counterparts.

ten years pass...

Both groups have at least one song I hope I never hear again as long as I live, but I'll go with CS&Y based on the good things they'd done prior.

Yeah, so this isn't fucking true anymore. I've developed a great affection for Sister Sledge over the last few years, and don't really fuck with C, S, N, or Y too much anymore.

Anyway, R.I.P. Joni Sledge. 60 is too young.
