Defend the Indefensible - Kim Appleby - "Don't Worry"

This is the only song that makes me physically and mentally sick. The typical hit-factory bouncy out of tune crap, made worse by the fact that her sister, who she had built up the franchise with (as "Mel and Kim"), was dead and barely cold when this "happy happy" song hit the charts....

Can you say anything that can justify it?

By reminding us that, even after her sister's death, life goes on as in the proverbial circle and we therefore shouldn't worry, Kim thereby provides a crash course in the ethics of mourning.

No, not really.

The lyrics are kind of tasteless to say the least. The song manages somewhat to bring back at least some of the spirit of the Mel & Kim records.

But, losing your sister, and then a year later, arriving as a solo act with two singles named "Don't Worry" and "G.L.A.D" is a bit... weird....

Great tune. And why not release a celebratory song, rather than a "tasteful" funeral dirge?

breathny spears let me see the sex that you did. (noodle vague), Sunday, 4 June 2006 14:31 (nineteen years ago)
