This should be easy as it was a hit song (I've heard it a few times before and I heard it today on oldies radio) but I don't recall who did it. Singer sounds like Marvin Gaye but it's too discoey and sounds more like something from the Jacksons or Earth, Wind and Fire. Chorus has lines like "just keep on dancing" and other 70s jive talk floating around. AMG hasn't been working for me lately but I did look up the singles for these acts a bit and search around for it but it was a little too broad for google. I'm really sleepy so I hope my clues aren't too ambiguous. Help is greatly appraciated.

I forgot to mentioned that the song goes for a "this was recorded at a party" atmosphere as well.

Only two I can think of are "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" by Leo Sayer, or "You Should Be Dancing" by The Bee Gees, both from around that time.

Sounds like "Got To Give It Up" by Marvin Gaye actually. 1977.

Marcello is right, it is Marvin Gaye. The DJ went on about how the Bay City Rollers' were #20 at this point in June, 1976 so I was wrongly looking there exclusively. Thanks.
