One brilliant debut single. One good album that was sort of a failure. Then we never heard any more of her. Why? She was so much better than most of the other stuff on the chart by 92-93.

I would say classic for sure.

Dud.

To be honest, I've only heard of her insofar as she covered Elvis Costello. She had a pretty horrible voice -- all trying to sound as though she was Singing, to the detriment of believability. I hate it when people do that. Unless she was a really great songwriter -- and really great, or even pretty good, songwriters don't usually trifle with that kind of vocal affectation -- I would have to say dud.

She made the best musical criticisms of US space policy, since..... uh......

Classic -- The first half of _Great Expectations_ is really solid. That record is still a $1 bin staple around here.

There was a second album (_Bloom_) that never got released in the US, and that's the story so far. I vaguely recall 'where are they now' feature on her in some UK mag a few years back, but can't remember any details.

one year passes...

Listened to "Great Expectations" again, and it's great. She probably waited to long to followup "Sleeping Satellite", and when she did she did with a very different single that sounded more like Suzanne Vega or something. Not that "In Your Care" is bad in any way though, just maybe a bit too different for her own good at that particular moment.
