Case logic folders - space savers or unassuming killers?

I'm beginning to suspect that my CD folders are scratching up the undersides of my CDs. Are these things safe or not?

God, no! Your suspicions, sadly, are correct.

Please elaborate. I just started using one of these things to carry my salsa CDs with me to my dance lessons. It was a gift, sort of, not something I would buy myself. Aesthetically, the CDs without their cases sort of remind me unpleasantly of hermit crabs without their shells, but it is convenient to carry them this way. Unless of course they are being ruined in the process.

I suppose that if you're supercareful when you're taking the CD in and out of the sleeve (which is supposed to be soft, but apparently not), and not pressing down on it so that the underside rubs against the sleeve itself, which I think is how some of my CDs got scratched.

So my Mogwai CDs died for nothing...

It's definitely best that way.

CD books scratch your CDs if you leave them unzipped, in dust fields, etc. The particles get stuck to the fabric and then scratch up your CDs.

in dust fields

A fair description of my apartment.

they also aren't suited to all climates. my brother is living in India & brought his CDs in case logic binders. the cloth absorbed moisture in the air to the extent that his CDs were all wet!

If an option economically, invest in a burner and make copies of cd's to carry with you. A lot safer and easier to lug around than jewelbox cases, and once you have the burner a Rio Volt is only one more step away...

is CDs were all wet!
Andrew WK warned ya.

india is crazy wet. my office mate went there over christmas and came back with an extra suitcase full of quantum optics books. when he unpacked them back in LA he found they were all water damaged from the moisture in the air. still books in india are SO CHEAP.

Case Logic cases = Drainpipe trousers coming down to just above the ankle. Lots of 'goa trance' CD's and dodgy UV backdrops.

Re the CDR thing, why not record em onto a an MD (with MDLP) and get 5 .5 hours of music on one MD ?, and they're smaller.

This is getting too technologically sophisticated for me.

DeRayMi, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I never keep jewel cases...too space consuming..and my Case Logic doesn't seem to ruin all of my cd's as they have been in and out of it for 4 years now...

Great! Something else to constantly worry about!

JC, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What other things are you worrying about?

electric sound of jim, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You can always buy a CD resurfacer, if it's that much of a problem. $25 does about 100 CDs that are moderately scratched.
