RFI: filling in ID3 info for mp3s?

At the moment I have hundreds of downloaded mp3 files that lack any artist or album ID3 information. I've been meaning to sort through them and add that info for a few weeks now, but the task of looking up individual track names and adding the info manually seems pretty daunting and spectacularly boring.

I'm sure people here have dealt with this problem, so I put it to you: is there any way to make this process less, uh, forensic? Do you have any favorite plugins, applications, resources, methods, etc. for tackling this problem? Or am I out of luck?

(And if there are any old threads dealing with this, please refer.)

Oh, and I'm using iTunes on OS X, if that's relevant.

Apple-N and Apple-P save clicking next and previous on the song info window.

Try MusicBrainz...depending on how obscure/mainstream your tastes are. It will analyze each track and try to determine its artist/title. In my experience it can easily identify more popular songs but has trouble with others. Still, it's worth your while. Also, I find in general Tag & Rename is a really great tool for tagging my mp3s. Very intuitive.

iEatBrainz (it's the fourth one in the list) is a MusicBrainz app for OS X that works with the iTunes library.
