Shin Jung Hyun (Korean psych) - any info?

Duders,

I picked up a record over the weekend by this dude (credited to Shin Jung Hyun & the Men) - the album as well as song titles are all in Korean but iTunes would lead me to believe it's called It's A Lie. It's pretty asskicking. Not super heavy or rawking, but excellent keyboard and guitar-focused psych rock jamz with some great metronomic chug drumming. The tunes take a minute or two to really take off - usually after the vocals are out of the way - but then they start chooglin and it all gets seriously cool. Keyboards go into outer space, guitar stays mostly focused on tight, funky riffing. Bliss-out city.

The store employee who recommended it to me said that he didn't know too much about the guy, other than that he was apparently fairly well known and regarded in S. Korea. Nothin I can find on AMG, only one mention in the ILM archives. Anyone got any info on the dude? I'm innarested.

Actually scratch the "stays mostly focused on tight, funky riffing" - although there's lotsa that stuff, there's plenty of spacey, spidery soloing too.

"chooglin" is already my least favorite newly minted term.

newly minted in the sense of being several decades old?

He was a well known session guitarist in South Korea. It's a Lie is a cool record. I've heard other artists do that first song from it.

newly resurrected then, though i suspect if i ASKED AN OLD PERSON if they had heard it they'd have no idea what i was talking about.

Keep on chooglin’
Keep on chooglin’
Keep on chooglin’
Chooglin’,
Chooglin’.

Maybe you don’t understand it.
But if you’re a natural man,
You got to ball and have a good time
And that’s what I call chooglin’.

Here comes mary lookin’ for harry,
She gonna choogle tonight.
Here comes louie, works in the sewer,
He gonna choogle tonight.

Chorus

(primal screaming)

Chorus

If you can choose it, who can refuse it,
Y’all be chooglin’ tonight.
Go on, take your pick, right from the git go,
You gotta choogle tonight.

Chorus

(more screaming)

Oh, we’re creedence!
Clearwater!
Revival!
