Immaculate Machine???

So, not many bands come and play in my city (being only a long swim from Detroit). Immaculate Machine is playing here on Friday. They're on Mint Records and have some kinda affiliation to the New Pornographers. Any of you know of them, heard them, or seen them live???

I really like 'em. They were in my city last night, but it was a Sunday. Haven't seen 'em live. the girl singer is a full-fledged New Porno now, and also cousin/niece/etc of Carl Newman.
Very new wavy, but in a fun way, rather than High Drama and Eyeliner way.

Kathryn Calder is Carl's neice.

I like them, I think they have a lot of potential. They were pretty decent live, but they aren't without their duds. I like Kathryn's voice.

They're like New Pornos with little song writing ability and adequate chops. There are better shows to see.

I liked their most recent album, but they have a tendency to fall into cliche (both lyrically and musically). Sometimes one can tolerate that -- sometimes one can even like that. Of course, they're really young, so there's a good chance they'll improve...

I've heard good things about their live show -- unfortunately, when they toured with the NPs last fall, I had a prior engagement and didn't get there until after they were already done, so I can't speak to that directly. (Equally unfortunately, I did make it there in time for Destroyer.)
