Need help locating an Aphex Twin song

I'm trying to get a song which was used in an animation thing by Aya Takano. I emailed her and she said it was from Windowlicker. So I got the cd but it's not on there, and it appears that there were two (??) other versions of Windowlicker on some other versions of this release. I think called demo version and remix version. If anyone could either:
1) Upload these two songs so I could download
2) Tell me where I might find a copy of the import version of this Single.

...it would be appreciated. If you're asking why I don't look on some file-sharing network, it's just because that's a bridge I haven't crossed yet and for some reason I'm hesitant to. anyhow... thanks

As far as I know the two cd singles of windowlicker included: Windowlicker [equation] Nannou Windowlicker [demo] and a video of windowlicker with a remix by luke vibert as the end credits. Apart from that i can't help you unless you give me the gist of how the track sounds. Aphex is hard to trace but I'm quite current with his back catalogue so give us a clue.

The WARP site doesn't say much, BUT Norman Records has both CD1 and CD2 available NOW apparently. It must be on CD2 with the video..

I'm going off memory, but the snippet I heard was not unlike nannou in feeling, but i remember it having some gentlish drums and it definitely had a high-pitched female sounding voice looping something indecipherable. The harmony was in the realm of a rhodes piano, or chimes or some kind of keyboard sound, something like that. The overall vibe was pretty, fragile, soft, etc.

The cd I have says it contains the video, but it only has windowlicker, [formula] and nannou.

was it perhaps Flim from the Come To Daddy EP?

I am trusting her that she told me the right info, so I don't think so. But of course I really don't know as I haven't heard any of these songs. Have you heard the alt versions of windowlicker? and do they not bear any resemblance to my description? It's possible that Aya didn't understand which piece I was asking about. Unfortunately the exhibit is gone so I can't check it out further.

I do appreciate your help on this, though. Describe the windowlicker versions to me if you can.

Hmmm... There ae three versions of Windowlicker. The first is the single version (everyone knows that one). The next is the original demo which comes on the second CD. It's similar to the single version but shorter and is more or less a loop repeating. The third version is that found on the video credits. It's more hip-hoppy ut you can't get this in normal cd format - only on the vid. I don't think it fits your description. As far as I know, there are no other Windowlickers existant. I don't think your friend is lying to you. It's just that Aphex Twin tracks often get muddled and there are whole forums (at joyrex.com for example) that are dedicated to tracking down an aphex track that has been accidentally mislabelled etc.

Thanks again for your help. I think I need to email her again and make sure we are handling the language barrier effectively. I wish I spoke some Japanese. Your statement that the other two versions don't sound likely is helpful though.

Ron, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Its possible the Japanese version is more of a mini-album or something. This is not that unusual where they repackage other stuff not released out there to make "super expensive import records wot the fan must have".

that's definitely possible, her email did call it an 'album' not a single, but I haven't seen any evidence that such a release exists.

I just wrote another email to her to attempt a clarification.

Oh yeah, I did just dl a copy of the video which is pretty funny indeed. I'm assuming that music which runs thru the credits is the other remix version you speak of, dog latin

hey dog latin,

I just saw a reference to a version of the single with a track called "something original"

have you heard a song by that name??
