What is the best soundtrack with the worst movie? I vote for "Beat Street".

As far as single-artist soundtracks go, Petty did a great job with She's the One considering how terrible the film ended up being.

Saturday Night Fever?

That's the best movie with the worst soundtrack.

JT's hair blows the Bee Gees away.

Saturday Night Fever is a good movie and a great soundtrack. Gene Siskel's favorite film of all time, may he rest in peace.

Sly Stallone is an unappreciated genius of our time!

Gene Siskel's favorite film of all time

Sweet Sweetback's Badassssss Song.

Yes, I've read Huey's essay on its revolutionary importance. No, he didn't convince me. Sure it can be read politically, and such a reading is important, but in the end the soundtrack outclasses the flick.

Sonny & Cher, Good Times! See my recent attempts to deal with this on the Rolling Teenpop thread.

"Under The Cherry Moon" wins.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 08:00 (nineteen years ago)

Of course, had it contained the originals rather than re-recordings, "Give My Regards To Broad Street" would have been the obvious winner here.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 08:06 (nineteen years ago)

"Don't Play Us Cheap" is a worse movie than "Sweetback" (which I really like), and "You Cut Up the Clothes" is better than any single moment on the Sweetback soundtrack.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 08:10 (nineteen years ago)

I say "Forrest Gump", altho "Footloose" and "Flashdance" are right up (down) there too. (Something about the letter 'F'?)

Monty Von Byonga (Monty Von Byonga), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 09:42 (nineteen years ago)

"Footlose" wasn't all that bad as a movie either. The story holds up a lot better than "Flashdance" and "Saturday Night Fever".

"Forrest Gump" is an excellent movie with a good soundtrack.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 10:01 (nineteen years ago)

The White Room? They thought it was so bad that it didnt merit even being released!

Griff Sheridan (Griff Sheridan), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 17:28 (nineteen years ago)

Forrest Gump? "Let's exalt the retard"?

Karate Kid had a surprisingly excellent soundtrack, but the movie also ruled.
