Yes, because you are an indie fuck.

Hmm, I like late era Walker but can't stand Xiu Xiu for the most part. But I really don't see how this helps you at all.

Haha. Yes. "indie" is such a useless word. Specifically: I despise US indie of the ilk of Sufjan, Decemberists et al, don't mind the more formalistically experimental stuff. I must say I prefer "Art rock" or whatever to "indie"....

I'm under the impression Xiu Xiu are kinda shrieky. Which is not a problem in and of itself, but wet-emo-esque stuff can go fuck off.

Xiu Xiu has always struck me as the butt-end of emo taken to its gothiest, artiest extremes. I've found no redeeming qualities in the five or so different releases I've sampled.

Xiu Xiu is ketchup to Scott Walker's Chateaubriand.

Cool, my prejudices are confirmed... I can now ignore with aconscience free of that mssing-something-quite-good guilt...

If you like Walker for his pop mixed with dissonance, then Xiu Xiu is what you're looking for. Specifically, check out the song "Muppet Face" (listen to that noise in the middle) and go from there.

It sounds like you like and despise the same kinds of "indie" that I do.

Early Xiu Xiu (as a 4-piece with bass/synth/gamelan) is pretty radical, I haven't heard anything in about 4 years though.

Check out the Chapel Of The Chimes EP.

wow, i just never woulda drawn the parallel b/n these two artists

that's so taylrr (ken taylrr), Wednesday, 14 June 2006 22:57 (nineteen years ago)

listening to the drift, i easily drew a parallel between the sounds of these two artists. i'm not very familiar with walker, but i found tilt to be warm and welcoming. xiu xiu is similarly beautiful

I wouldn't relate the two at all. Sometimes they both make funny sounds I suppose and sing about being sad.
