I've always used Amazon but I'm wondering if there's somewhere cheaper/better as I want to get the new Growing album. Where do you buy your CDs?

I think the Growing album is being re-released in europe by Rock Action.
But I got my lp cheap enough from the US label. Cd will be even cheaper than that because of lower postage costs for cds.
http://www.troublemanunlimited.com/store/cd.php $13 + postage.
which will still work out cheaper than

http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/1004699/Colour_Wheel/Product.html

seems to be the cheapest uk site i can find. £10.99 inc postage.

No idea if thats the re-release or not. But i don't suppose that will be any cheaper.

My pleasure dog latin.

The good thing about troubleman means you can also pick up the other growing ep that came out last year.
They used to have a bad reputation for mail order a few years ago but they've been superfast the times i've ordered.
They also have non TMU stuff in the distro part. Worth checking out.

If you like Mono or bands like that then check out http://www.temporaryresidence.com/ They're incredibly cheap and all prices inc airmail to europe.

I used to have a great list of shops bookmarked but i lost them all last week when i had to reinstall xp otherwise i wouldve just sent you them.

Has anyone ever used Volcanic Tongue mail order? Or even been to the new shop in the west end of glasgow?

Yes, I have used Volcanic Tongue mailorder once. No complaints at all, v. smooth transaction.

A good starting point as it will give you a price comparison across the various online outlets is...

Volcanic Tongue is excellent, I'm an addict

rizzx (Rizz), Thursday, 15 June 2006 11:47 (nineteen years ago)

Haven't ordered online for a bit but when I do it's usually from Norman Records. Has most things I want, good prices, helpful people. It has the Growing cd for 9.45, but that'll be 10.55 including postage (postage is much cheaper after the first item though).

The rest of the time it's ebay, Boomkat, or straight from the label.

Rebecca (reb), Thursday, 15 June 2006 11:48 (nineteen years ago)

Volcanic Tongue is expensive though. A lot of the time its cheaper to buy in america even with postage costs. Which is why i've never ordered from them. But sometimes they do have stuff you cant get elsewhere but id probably rather visit the shop when im in Glasgow next rather than pay the postage costs on top of what they charge.

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy (Kerr), Thursday, 15 June 2006 11:49 (nineteen years ago)

yeah that's very true, they're def. not the cheapest. But you get a nice VT plastic bag with it!

i need so much from them'but i'm deadbroke. Ever ordered from Eclipse? How's that? They're cheaper I think

rizzx (Rizz), Thursday, 15 June 2006 11:55 (nineteen years ago)

Never tried there either. What puts me off VT is they charge like £12 for cdrs! + postage. I know they have to pay import charges, VAT, and mark up for profit but i just refuse to pay that for cdrs.
They do carry lots of great vinyl though. I should just save up and pop in the shop later in the year. Only thing is im not familiar with that area of Glasgow.

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy (Kerr), Thursday, 15 June 2006 12:06 (nineteen years ago)

Norman Records
Picadilly Records
Smallfish Records

I'd say all 3 are comparable in price, and service has been top for all of them

I'm about to start using Volcanic Tongue because I'm struggling to find stuff anywhere else, so I'm glad people seem to like them

I had the misfortune of using Rough Trade's mail order system a couple of years back and it was awful, dreadful service, lack of information - I ended up cancelling the order, so I wouldn't bother with them.

Strangely enough some of my cheapest and generally hardest to find stuff has been on Play.com, I've found stuff on there that I've not been able to find in any other record shop online or otherwise

actionjackson (actionjackson), Thursday, 15 June 2006 13:07 (nineteen years ago)

it's a lot for a cd-r indeed, i find myself struggling with that as well. But the new Skaters for instance is totally worth it for the music alone, the cover art is a joke though, really a shame.

I wish I could just pop into their store

rizzx (Rizz), Thursday, 15 June 2006 14:47 (nineteen years ago)

CDWow has it for 10.28 with free delivery.
