Ciara - Get Up

Every high-profile R&B song is leaking around the same time, and they're all awesome!! This is sort of unparalled, no? There are so many summer jams hitting the radio around the same time(Aint No Other Man, Deja Vu, this song, Promiscuous Girl, Me & U etc.)

More electro-funk type stuff from Ciara, it sounds like "Hotline" meets "1,2 Step" meets that Gloria Estefan song (Can you feel the beat?). Good stuff... this summer is shaping up to be pretty awesome.

Oh no, this was meant for ILM. Can the mods move it over there please?

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Sunday, 18 June 2006 18:58 (nineteen years ago)

done! bump!

teeny (teeny), Sunday, 18 June 2006 19:55 (nineteen years ago)

It is good it is.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 18 June 2006 19:56 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah I can't stop listening to this. The only negative is Chamillionaire's rap... it is going to be a total smash.

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Monday, 19 June 2006 01:59 (nineteen years ago)

This is pretty good for 1,2 step part 2. Whats wrong with Cham's verse?

deej.. (deej..), Monday, 19 June 2006 02:01 (nineteen years ago)

I'm with Brainwasher -- it's just kinda there, I knew it was coming, I knew what I would hear and how it would end. These kind of guest spots are the '00s equivalent to dropped-in guitar solos after the second chorus in eighties top 40. (See "Somewhere Out There" by James Ingram and Linda Rondstadt for the paradigm at work.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 June 2006 02:05 (nineteen years ago)

I donno I thought it was good, I'll definitely take it over Jay on that new Beyonce anyway.

deej.. (deej..), Monday, 19 June 2006 02:07 (nineteen years ago)

That I will agree with you on.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 June 2006 02:08 (nineteen years ago)

this is ok but I like it enough for it to fit in with my newfound pro-Ciara stance, brought on partly by the fact that she finally has a natural-looking hair color and looks decent

Alex in Baltimore (Alex in Baltimore), Monday, 19 June 2006 02:35 (nineteen years ago)

I'm into it.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 19 June 2006 02:38 (nineteen years ago)

It makes me think of Lose Control more than 1 2 Step because of the tempo, although this is even faster.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 19 June 2006 02:38 (nineteen years ago)

It makes me think of Lose Control more than 1 2 Step

Yeah, "Lose Control" was the first thing I thought of as well, to the point where for a second I was all "Wait, this isn't new!"

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 June 2006 02:39 (nineteen years ago)

I like Ciara on this, but Chamillionaire still leaves me Antarctic cold. Get some charisma, asshole.

It's Rodney, pimp! (R. J. Greene), Monday, 19 June 2006 02:56 (nineteen years ago)

This is fucking awesome. What's that breathing sample at the start? Trans-Europe Express?

Massive hit. Reminds me of Janet circa Rhythm Nation.

Chamillionaire's rap is def. the least interesting part of the song, but it's not actively a turn off to me. 'Riding Dirty' won me over a little.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 19 June 2006 03:53 (nineteen years ago)

Also, does this mean a new album's on the way?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 19 June 2006 03:53 (nineteen years ago)

I like the rap, the tempo makes it sound old school.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 19 June 2006 03:59 (nineteen years ago)

I don't think it samples "Tour De France," it's just referencing that song.

I think this song is doubling as a first single from her new album and theme song for this movie called Step Up, but I'm not 100% sure.

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Monday, 19 June 2006 04:00 (nineteen years ago)

Duh, Tour de France; right. And yeah, it's a reference not a sample.
Is 'Step Up' Ciara's 'Glitter'? Isn't it a little early for her to be doing a movie?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 19 June 2006 04:05 (nineteen years ago)

Ciara isn't in the cast of Step Up (Mario, however, is), but she was in a direct-to-DVD volleyball movie recently called All You've Got which looked pretty low rent even for her.

Alex in Baltimore (Alex in Baltimore), Monday, 19 June 2006 05:22 (nineteen years ago)

also I don't see at all how any singer doing a movie instantly denotes potential for it to be their Glitter. plus practically every young R&B singer with a plaque or two has had a couple movie roles these days.

Alex in Baltimore (Alex in Baltimore), Monday, 19 June 2006 05:23 (nineteen years ago)

Not 'Glitter' as career ender; 'Glitter' as shitty movie.
Are any of those young divas film roles any good?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 19 June 2006 13:16 (nineteen years ago)

Blaque in Bring It On!

rtccc (mwah), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 00:48 (nineteen years ago)

rtccc (mwah), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 00:49 (nineteen years ago)

i mean, her janet jackson love was never a secret but fucking hell u best believe when that glove slips on mild mannered ciara harris is the avenging fist of the rhythm nation!

rtccc (mwah), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 00:54 (nineteen years ago)

Despite this almost xeroxing her other kind of awesome singles, that was pretty much instantly forgettable. Oh well.

fandango (fandango), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 00:58 (nineteen years ago)

die

rtccc (mwah), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 01:00 (nineteen years ago)

I'll just apologise for my timing if that's ok... didn't mean to piss on your bonfire.

fandango (fandango), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 01:10 (nineteen years ago)

yeah the video really makes me like the song even more. although it's really hard to get around how much the chorus's vocal melody reminds of one part of Destiny's Child's "Lose My Breath."

Alex in Baltimore (Alex in Baltimore), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 03:15 (nineteen years ago)

Uh, yeah. That's fuckin' awesome.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 04:42 (nineteen years ago)

i want to see the video i want i want i want

i love this, i love how it's so full-sounding, i love the way she hits the note on "oooh" and all rhyming syllables, i love chamillionaire's switch-up, I LOVE CIARA. LOVE.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 07:15 (nineteen years ago)

i also love the breathlessness of 'in - your - eyes!"

that is to say, even more breathless than ciara usually is

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 07:23 (nineteen years ago)

The Reverend, Monday, 14 January 2013 20:54 (thirteen years ago)

I've always wondered is the male singer on this Polow or someone else?

The Reverend, Monday, 14 January 2013 20:56 (thirteen years ago)

it's polow

some dude, Monday, 14 January 2013 20:57 (thirteen years ago)

this remix is literally my white whale

The Reverend, Monday, 14 January 2013 21:00 (thirteen years ago)

oh i forgot about the actual singery singer toward the end yeah that's def not polow, hmm

some dude, Monday, 14 January 2013 21:01 (thirteen years ago)

like I'll get home and the cops will break in 5 minutes after and point guns at me and I'll be blazed on the couch and it will have played exactly one time in high quality glory and I'll be like, it's cool man, take me and lock me forever I've heard it and that will be the last anybody ever hears of me

5.5mb is the 160 dummy

r|t|c, Monday, 14 January 2013 21:06 (thirteen years ago)

weird, in one program it says that's 160 and in another it says that's 207

The Reverend, Monday, 14 January 2013 21:09 (thirteen years ago)

but all i had was the 128 before

The Reverend, Monday, 14 January 2013 21:09 (thirteen years ago)

but i hadn't listened to it and i thought it was gonna be 207 vbr when i tweeted that

The Reverend, Monday, 14 January 2013 21:10 (thirteen years ago)

The track also features a singer from the group Cavi, who is signed to Shonuff.
