ipod question

Short of stripping out 60g of tunes off my ipod and re-loading (takes a week) anyone know of a way to organise the id tags? They're a mess on the ipod but an archivist's joy in itunes. I've tried doing it manually but I've only got so manys years left in me and I'd prefer to doing something a little more entertaining in the meantime. The ideal would be to duplicate the main itunes window and just drag from it to the ipod in chunks but I know Apple doesn't like that idea.
I'm hoping that with this Creative lawsuit breathing down their neck and with drives getting bigger, Stevie boy might look again at how the menu system works on their baby. I can't be the only one who would like to be able to scroll continuously through the bottom of their lists to the top again.

You could use Perl::MP3::Tag.

Seriously, though, it won't take that long to delete and re-copy, unless you sync over USB1. An hour, max.

An hour, eh? Took many days before but that was an old machine. Okay, I'll give it a go and if you're wrong I'm going to hunt you down and scratch you Donna Summer collection.

I speak only from my own experiences with re-copying music, although I haven't done a full iPod's worth at once, just a few gig at a time, which on my Mac dual G5 takes only a minute or two to transfer over firewire. If the old computer was NOT a Mac, then it probably had only USB1, which surely would add on a few weeks to the xfer time.

I've a new Intel Mac so I'm prepared to believe it'll be a good deal quicker. I'll let you know.

Okay Bub, you can bring your Donna Summer records out from under the bed (I'd have found them there), ipod clean and up and running. Thanks for your help.

On another topic, does anyone know if there's a way to cut out that irritating micro-gap that comes between tracks when I'm listening to a mix that's split up into individual tracks? It ruins mixes.

two years pass...

wtf is "Don't Fall in Love with a Dreamer" by Kenny Rogers and Kim Carnes doing on here? I've never even heard of it, let alone heard it. And now I never want to hear it again.
