You know i just had to ask this...

What kind of keyboards and drum machines were used in Baltimora's Tarzan Boy, you know the song that was used in Listerine Commercials and on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 movies?

what do you do with all this info?

jäxøñ (jaxon), Monday, 19 June 2006 01:54 (nineteen years ago)

compile this in a database.

The Startrekman (Startrekman), Monday, 19 June 2006 02:02 (nineteen years ago)

what do you do with the database?

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Monday, 19 June 2006 02:22 (nineteen years ago)

compile that in a database of databases.

a databasebase.

Back to the question, which of the gazillion synth sounds are you talking about in that song, startrek? The bass synth? The "DONDONDONDON" sound?

aDOring NUTbians (donut), Monday, 19 June 2006 04:53 (nineteen years ago)

I compile it in a massive database that keeps a track on what kinds of synths artists uses.

Back to the question: im talking about all the sounds.

Are you intending to go public with this information someday? Why not set up a website or something where you can also ask these questions?

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Monday, 19 June 2006 05:11 (nineteen years ago)

yes.

Ah, the old Italo-euro beat synth conundrum. IMO I can hear an Oberheim OB-Xa, some sort of Roland Jupiter (probably an 8). Drums-wise some of it sounds like a Simmons triggered by some other machine.

JohnFoxxsJuno (JohnFoxxsJuno), Monday, 19 June 2006 08:03 (nineteen years ago)

Sounds like some early digital synth, a DX7, Synclavier or similar.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Monday, 19 June 2006 14:21 (nineteen years ago)

There's some sampled horns in there though isn't there? So a Synclavier could be OTM.

I, for one, would find such a database valuable - not that I would have any practical use for the knowledge within. (I'm just the kind of geek who values reference books.)

Is this supposed to be a David Hockney ref or is this just actually shitty computer generated generic graphics? Like where is that teapot??

Everything about this video is subtly & indescribably funny to me. Esp. that it also has "Boy" in the title!

Wait -- that's not it. What's the 80s pop song about jungles that goes woah-a-woah-a-woah-woah-woah?

would like a calmer set (Eazy), Wednesday, 8 December 2010 01:01 (fifteen years ago)

Oh fuck me, that's this song.
