It's the E chord and blues riff for late 70s FM radio thing.

I'm going with the Floyd, not because I hate the fuckin' Eagles (I don't), but because "Young Lust" is so enjoyably out of character for Pink Floyd - it has a directness that a lot of their stuff doesn't really have, not to mention randiness.

The Eagles every time.

"Young Lust," but "Life" is still kinda cool.

Pink Floyd had a song called "Young Lust" ?

Not a Syd epic, I'll wager.

I can't immediately think of how "Young Lust" goes, which is a big point in its favor.

"Young Lust"

"oooooh, I need a dirty woman..." if that jars your memories

My question is - why was Gilmour inserting the "Young Lust" riff into live versions of "Learning To Fly"?

Edward Bax (EdBax), Monday, 19 June 2006 13:39 (nineteen years ago)

By that stage Pink Floyd was full of subtle or unsubtle nods to their old stuff.

LC (Damian), Monday, 19 June 2006 14:30 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, but I don't see the connection between those two songs in particular...

Edward Bax (EdBax), Monday, 19 June 2006 14:53 (nineteen years ago)

"young lust," definitely

I struggle to find one either, other than that maybe David Gilmour was bored. Given the nature of the show Pink Floyd put on there's so little room for spontaneity, so when he throws in that quote from "Young Lust" it seems like such a huge surprise.

Of course, "Young Lust" is one of only 3 tracks on The Wall that Gilmour co-wrote as well...

Edward Bax (EdBax), Monday, 19 June 2006 17:57 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, you're right - almost all the good things on The Wall have his name on them.
