F*cked Up Ranchera

My neighbors used to rage to 48 hours of full-tilt Ranchera every weekend. Mostly it was tripe-y but a few times I heard these really slow wobbly Ranchera songs that had a bass trombone instead of a bass, and this growly vocalist who sounded alot like a Mexican Prayers on Fire era Nick Cave. The whole thing sounded f*cked up and desperate in an old Greg Ginn sort of way. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'd like to track something like it down. Thanks in advance.

Sounds to me like one of Lupillo Rivera's narcocorridos, or maybe the late Chalino Sanchez.

Thanks. You put me on the right track. Had no idea what the whole NarcoCorridos thing was all about. Chalino's got the right lilt to him but the songs I want to find were really really fierce.

Valentin Elizalde? He sings way out of tune, but that's his "style"
