You might want to talk with the editor, Thomas.

Hi Dere Anticipation

Dreaming of People With Black Eyes,Dressed In Black (jergins), Thursday, 14 September 2006 21:37 (nineteen years ago)

Okay so here's what I'm thinking of seeing:

Thursday - I would love to see Day Ring, Night Ring, a 5.1 Surround sound composition by Steve Roden in the Turrell Skyscape. I can't reccomend the Turrell room enough, for Decibel or as a tourist or a local. I guess this (and a conference meet and greet) are happening at the Henry Art Gallery (UW), free. I guess it starts at 5 or so. http://www.henryart.org/skyspace.htm

Continuing Thursday - Nortec showcase at Neumo's. Never heard a song, no expectations.

Friday - The busy one. After other stuff to do, I'm going to try to catch Thomas Fehlman's dub set at the Broadway Performance Hall. Then on to Neumo's for Apparat and Alex Smoke. The Shameless afterparty (venue tba) will crack, if I can stay awake.

Saturday - Apendics Shuffle and Green Velvet at Neumo's

Sunday - Ryoichi Kurokawa at the Broadway Performance Hall
Sunday night - Bola? Speedy J? Somebody say something good about Speedy J cuz I've never heard a song and have a bit of a bad impression.

Who else is seeing what?

Dreaming of People With Black Eyes,Dressed In Black (jergins), Thursday, 14 September 2006 22:15 (nineteen years ago)

I'm seeing a NON decibel thing... Wobbly at Gallery 1412. This starts at 8pm though, so it will be over before the climax of tonight's Chop Suey lineup, which I'm excited about.

I have to get my pass at Bad Juju around 6:30-7pm though.. need food, see Wobbly, then walk back and see Nortec and folks.

Wow.. Wobbly was excellent, as was (later at Neumo's) Panoptica, Plankton Man, Fax, and Nortec Collective. Fax and Plankton Man in particular were fanfuckingtastic... Why isn't every indie label not begging to release an album by Plankton Man? Why isn't Depeche Mode begging Fax to remix all their singles?

Day 1! Three more to go!

the dow nut industrial average dead joe mama besser (donut), Friday, 15 September 2006 07:44 (nineteen years ago)

I was really impressed by Plankton Man as well. He had a much lighter touch than I'd figured he would. Loved the visuals as well.

Tonight is going to be great! Oh, Alex Smoke. And Apparat. I doubt I'll make it to the afterparty, but I've heard the space is a good one.

Dreaming of People With Black Eyes,Dressed In Black (jergins), Friday, 15 September 2006 21:29 (nineteen years ago)

Wow, Apparat is on some next shit.

Alex Smoke was great, too, but man, I'm still reeling from Apparat. It was one of those shows that make me want to go find all of his recent live PAs to try to ID tracks. Two of the vocal tracks he played, complementary bookends, almost, were amazing. The first had female (North) American vocals, the latter was almost an R&B song reworked. DAMN. Just damn. Got to find those.

jelkino (jergins), Saturday, 16 September 2006 19:13 (nineteen years ago)

Was the Apparat set like last year's?

I ditched Apparat to go see Jacob London's first PA set in 8 years up the street. best decision ever. It's one of the best electronic performances I've seen in about, oh, 8 years. (having only seen Jacob London so more stripped down dj sets.)

It's too bad they pitted Jacob London vs. Apparat.. :(

Agreed about Alex Smoke. Lusine's set was great too.

But Jacob London has so far pwned this festival... Speedy J or Bola may do it, but I'm not going to hold high hopes.

the dow nut industrial average dead joe mama besser (donut), Saturday, 16 September 2006 21:47 (nineteen years ago)

FLASH!

Oh fuck. Green Velvet, last night. Oh fuck.

the dow nut industrial average dead joe mama besser (donut), Sunday, 17 September 2006 16:13 (nineteen years ago)

loved [a]pendics shuffle

apparat was not like last year (as far as i can remember): less cold, more flow-y, and those vocals! glad to hear about jacob london, and good to finally run into you.

Ryoichi Kurokawa this afternoon for some multimedia madness.
