I would certainly like to hear more whining from unnecessary and unsuccessful early members of bands.

Heres MES instructing Friel to go & see the Pistols live, with the lyrics of "Your Heart Out". From 1976!

Whining may fill the belly of a man, but meta-whining will fill his head!

Oh this is great stuff, I could scrutinize these letters all day. As if one needed proof of MES's genius...in letter 19 he worries about going bald and draws a hilarious picture of a bald man's head.

Hey, I was a bit Mark E'd last night, ignore me.

Ah, don't worry about it. I know your heart is in the right place, Noodle.

Plus Marshall stereo mixers, vibes, timpani, ETC ETC ME NO COMPRENDI

Why didn't he add that he "started" the Fall on his resume?

Wouldn't you?

Letter 20 notes that MES lived at 15a Kingswood Road in Prestwich, Manchester.

Google Earth shows it to be what looks like a lush suburban wonderland.

Did I just admit that I did all of that? Uh, yeah.

Putting down "starting The Fall" on your resume is a good idea considering that every second resume these days contains "former member of The Fall" in it.

Also, MES was proto-ILM back in '77 just by using the typewriter to record his musical insights.

I'm afraid the letters have been removed :(

Damnit! DAMNIT! DAMNIT@%^&(&*^!@

I knew it wouldn't last. My guess is MES himself probably told him to take them down. Still, I'm thankful for what I learned about the man from these letters and I'll never forget it.
