Grom C/D

Partly because someone said this in the musicals thread:

>>There is no unacceptable genre of music on ILM. Period. For better or for worse.

And partly because I've been listening to Of Oak, Ash And Thorns and Pagan War Machine a lot lately (for research) and the former is really fucking good. It's a mix of NYHC, old-school thrash, Suffocation-style death metal, and black metal, with really cool samples from Excalibur as song intros. Too bad they're Nazis, because if they weren't, I'd go see 'em in a minute. So: has anybody else heard Grom, and liked 'em? Broadening out a little, does anybody have any other NSBM recommendations?

i heard something by grom a while back and it didn't move me, but i'll have to check out the oaky ashy one.

recommendations: veles' black hateful metal springs to mind first. basement fidelity epics of simplistic raw black metal and rob darken's keyboards. it's very moody and weird, and tracks like "uralten" are more mood pieces than songs, really. other polish bands worth checking out: gontyna kry (who seem to have disappeared from the face of the earth), infernum, selbstmord, thunderbolt.

and there's nokturnal mortum/mistigo varggoth darkestra, forest, nitberg and the other blazebirth hall bands from russia.
