i had never heard of one watt sun, the people who did the music on the album i got in the mail, so i looked them up and the ONLY thing i found on the internet was:

http://row1.info/content/view/147/2/

which is some guy saying how this album is a bootleg that keith had nothing to do with? does anyone know what the deal is? very strange. cuz the label website doesn't make it sound like a bootleg:

(i iz confused. one watt sun has never been mentioned on ilm before. i checked.)

I remember hearing that the aussie band high pass filter were doing work on this in prague or some unlikely place? (that was a couple of years ago, though.)

strange indeed. i thought there had already been a sequel to "...ecolygyst" which was ignored. i know the princess superstar collab is a few years old at least. it sounds to me like this is some salvaged/reworked version of that original "return" and proably has npothing to do with kool keith. the whole situation sounds quite depressing.

he was touring behind it, 'til he, umm, hit some kinda personal wall! the album's excellent anyhow

Thomas Tallis (Tommy), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 11:39 (nineteen years ago)

i like that track "Al Green" but it's quite clearly a remix of some original KoolKeith material rather than being a full blown Dr Octagon track.

yeah I dunno...the album hangs together really well, and everybody except Keith is squawking about permissions and so forth...keith himself booked a tour to coincide with the album's release, though it was cancelled after Portland. Fanatik J sounds like maybe he's pissed his beats didn't get used.

I love this album so much that I don't actually care whether it's legit or not, if Keith won't give it his blessing then he's another in a long list of artists who aren't the best judges of their own work

i've only heard 2 tracks so far but i'm looking forward to hearing all of it. i think the only thing i had read about it 'til now was that you were raving about it!

There was a bootleg CD out last year called 'Dr Octagon Part II', which was definitely NOT supported by Kool Keith.
The news page on Koolkeith.co.uk said: "The album features 2 demos, 2 Clayborne Family tracks, and 6 INCOMPLETE tracks from the upcoming 7th Veil album. The cover of the album features Kool Keith standing in front of an Escalade, which he is not even down with." So now you know: Keith isn't down with Escalades.
'The Return Of Dr Octagon' is a totally different release (and really good, in my opinion), but no-one seems to be sure as to whether Keith's happy about it.

We're only halfway through the year, and Keith's already put out 3 records that I really like (Return of Doctor Octagon, Project Polaroid and Mr Nogatco), which is pretty wicked.

it was just the DJ from High Pass Filter (B3n Gr33n?), not the whole band. but a full Kool Keith/HPF collab would be awesome!

kit brash (kit brash), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 12:48 (nineteen years ago)

Mr Nogatco was def not an authorized release (from Keith's standpoint anyways). And it wasn't so hot. The Return of Dr. Octogon however is fire. Besides the tour, Keith set and cancelled and set and cancelled press days. At one point there was talk of interviews only happening in a hotel with Churches Chicken and strippers (and they were serious).

But I guess nothing happened. Too bad, the album is Keith's best since Black Elvis. But no one has answered the original question about one watt sun. guess it truely is a mystery.

maybe one watt sun is just the avalanches. be the best thing they ever made, that's for sure.

scott seward (scott seward), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 15:48 (nineteen years ago)

"Trees" is a great song & is incredibly pleasing in headphones.

two months pass...
Regarding the guy that said Nogatco isn't authorized, you need to check your facts. Nogatco is authorized and bonafied. Kool Keith has mentioned his connection and affinity to that release on several occasions including in national magazines such as Vibe Magazine and also on a bunch of websites. I thought it was a hot release too. On Rapnews.co.uk, he also says he made two great albums in 06, Nogatco and Polaroid.
