New, interesting and decidely Danish?

If you like eclectic pop I'd suggest picking up one, or several, or all of the Luftkastellet compilations. I own only Volumes 1 & 2 (last summer I studied in Sweden, but a short hour away from Køpenhavn), with the latter the stronger of the two, but the label, Music for Dreams seems pretty consistent and I wouldn't expect the latest editions (Volumes 3 & 4) to drop off much in terms of quality.

If you'd like to conduct a background check and/or try before you buy, the folks of Luftkastellet host (or at least 'used to host) weekly events in Køpenhavn as well as on the Swedish side of the water, in Malmö.

One caveat (having listened to Lufkastellet Vol. 2 on the way home last night): The Luftkastellet comps feature music that is mostly electronic (but also: light & airy & poppy).

Seriously, check out the entire back catalog by Gangway. I did once when I visited Copenhagen and I haven't regretted a single moment. Great pop band a bit in the Pet Shop Boys/Saint Etienne tradition.
