TS: Ellen Allien's Orchestra of Bubbles vs. Kelley Polar's Love Songs of the Hanging Gardens

This is not my area at all, so I'm not sure I'm prepared to say anything particularly insightful, but I have these two albums grouped mentally. Kelley Polar seems pastoral if not folky, while Orchestra of Bubbles is primarily instrumental. Or to put it another way, Ellen Allien is a spacewalk in the vacuum, while Love Songs is beaming down to an unknown (but inhabited!) planet. I still can't decide which one I prefer.

What do others think?

Apples and oranges, in my opinion.

both are good (surprisingly because I was thinking Ellen & Apparat's album would be boring because the European electronic dance scene is mostly repeating itself. Kelley Polar on the other hand is a fave of mine since I like the Environ/Metro Area etc. sound better. Objectively I think they are up to par with each other, however I prefer Kelley's.

It all depends on my mood...Polar is definitely much more jazzy to my ears, more smooth. I feel like I could play certain tracks next to Sade or something. Ellen? No way, but Orchestra is one of the more beautifully structured melancholic dance albums I've heard this year. I guess Apples and Oranges, then?

By the way, I'm friends with a guy who has done spray-paint commission work on Kelley Polar's truck. Pretty awesome.
