I'm quite ill. What should I listen to as I cough my weekend away?

I have come down with some sort of sore throat/earache/headache/pretty much all over ache, as well as a dry, uncomfortable cough. This all sprang up within the past 24 hours and has gotten much worse as the day has progressed. It is not fair to be sick during the summer.

What should I listen to?

1. Ween - Mononucleosis was the first one to spring to mind.

Eno's "Music For Airports" - soothing and relaxing. Ideally, this would be listened to while drinking garlic/ginger/cayenne/lenon juice tea.

uh, "Lemon" juice, that is.

Sickness & Diseases - Fairport Convention

"My friend Willy—well he looks so ill
His face as white as milk
Everybody runs for miles when he’s in town
He’s got every known disease
And some without a name

Sickness and diseases pull you down, pull you down
Sickness and diseases pull you down"

Please - John Cale

"Won't you help me please,
I'm growing old
A million years ago

Won't you help me sneeze,
I've caught a cold
Another way to go"

Listen to some early Tyrannosaurus Rex. That's where Devandra Banhart got his ideas.

But seriously... the Eno suggestion is good. Maybe some Miles Davis or Coltrane?

Yes, Sketches of Spain.

I have that same exact cough. It's quite unpleasant, and came on suddenly a day and a half ago.

I'm going to listen to Dylan's Love and Theft for the billionth time.

garlic, ginger, cayenne and lemon tea? i'd rather have that in a stir fry.

My own personal all-purpose sickness soundtrack is Fripp & Eno; either of their LPs will do nicely.

Too bad Lester Bangs wasn't alive to hear this.

I've just been through a bout of the summer flu and spent my days lying in bed listening to the Pet Shop Boys, specifically Actually, Behaviour and Bilingual - and the "further listening" discs that came with each of those 3 remasters. definitely helped.

you're sick... you gotta listen to the blues!

Mississippi John Hurt or Henry Thomas will help it hurt so bad.

I would read Charles Bukowski's 'Women'
