Austin City Limits 2006 - Need A Writer?

I have the opportunity to go to Austin - a place to stay and cheap travel - for City Limits this year. It's not really appropriate to do something in the Weekly that I edit (it's a regional newspaper and not something I have the space for) and the places I freelance to on a regular basis can't use anything thus far.

If you need someone to file stories or a story from ASL, please let me know. Obviously if anyone wants to pay me or even just help with my expenses I will not turn it down! But really I am just looking for a publication that can get me an assignment so I can get myself and a photographer into the event. It seems like a blast.

I can send clips and writing references - I've been writing for 15 years. I can meet your deadlines, file from the festival, do a review, interviews or anything else. If you can't afford to send a writer there, I'm your guy. Please get in touch - the email address I have here does work. Thanks!

GET A BLOG

Nah. I'm old school, dood...

I am also skeptical that a blog that I start up two months out of ACL would be sufficient to recieve media credentials.

Hey, dude, I'm no moderator, but this isn't really the board for that kind of thing...

The only reason I posted it was I recall seeing editors mags without huge budgets posting here looking for writers who were attending festivals and other events in the past because they wanted ink but didn't have the budget to do it the usual way of sending someone out there...

If a moderator wants to lock this thread for breaking rules, okay and apologies, but there was a precedent.

Aren't you just the little Miss Manners. If Brian gets work, good for him.

Work is great! But also I am fine with doing something pro bono if I have to. I can get my expenses back on my taxes... I just don't want to pass up an opportunity to cheaply travel to and attend an event I happen to think is pretty cool.

Please -- this is a music DISCUSSION board, s'all.

Anyway, my suggestion to Brian would be to email the editors he's seen posting here personally. That way, everybody wins.
