I played U2's Unforgettable Fire album in its entirety the night before last. There's a song called 4th of July isn't there?

When Americans party they party hard because we have less holidays than many countries, we are the workaholics of the world. At the expense of family, of our health, we work on. Not that there aren't hard working people everywhere. Etc.

All the other cool countries got more holidays.

Lenny Koggins (Bimble...), Tuesday, 4 July 2006 06:04 (nineteen years ago)

I just listen to a loop of Otto from the Simpsons selling Bart "2 kilos of Chinese sky candy" until my brain turns into a deep-freid twinkie.

Also I think there's something extrely 4th of July esque about Ween's "Pumping For Teh Man" but I can't really be more specific than that thanks to the boozening.

you can email me if you wish to challenge the truth (nickalicious), Tuesday, 4 July 2006 06:24 (nineteen years ago)

A Certain Ratio do a real nice, brief version of America The Beautiful at the beginning of "Wild Party" on their superb "Live In America" album, so after you get done with the short moment of baseball-game nationalistic sentimental sappiness, you can dance to the impeccable FUNK they lay on your arse. And that's how it should be.

Lenny Koggins (Bimble...), Tuesday, 4 July 2006 16:14 (nineteen years ago)

Yo, where's the love for BRUCE?

"4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)". I listen to the Asbury Park Night live version every year. I'm following it up with Galaxie 500 this year.
