River's band, Aleka's Attic, consisted of River (lead vocals, guitar, songwriter), Rain Phoenix (keyboard, vocals), Josh Greenbaum (drums, songwriter), Josh McKay (guitar), Tim Hankins (viola). "Aleka is the spirit of the group. Aleka was an imaginary creature who wrote poetry and music and gave up it's spirit for the band," explained River.
Aleka gave their first concert in December 1988, in Gainesville, Florida where the band members were all living. They played at various benefits sponsored by PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals). The original line-up disbanded as River was busy working and although he loved the band there wasn't enough time for him to devote to it through work commitments.
River re-formed the band in L.A. with Rain and Josh Greenbaum remaining in the band. Whenever River was in L.A. he would often jam with some of his closest friends, Flea from Red Hot Chilli Peppers, John Frusciante (ex member of Chilli Peppers) and fellow actor Johnny Depp.

The spirit of Aleka died with River on the 31 October 1993, but Rain along with Flea have been striving to get some of Aleka's songs released.

"Striving to get some of Aleka's songs released", coupled with no love from Amazon, leads a cat to think that there ain't no Aleka's Attic discs to send the little River Phoenix fan. A fortiori, her claim to "love" the band is somewhat less plausible.
