Inspired by the "She's Out Of Your League" thread on ILE - Wimp Rock faves from yesterday, courtesy of male actors not known for their vocal talents. (that's Swayze vs Soul vs Carradine for you kids)

Keith Carradine's I'm Easy bitchslaps those other songs. The movie it's from, Nashville is one of my alltime favorites.

SHE'S LIKE THE WIND could be the best bad song of all time. No other song makes me so happy... maybe Bad Days by F Lips.

"I'm Easy", easy (altho last time I saw "Nashville", a year ago, I was distressed to find I didn't love it as much as previous viewings.)

I don't even think I know "She's Like The Wind" - was that Patrick Swayze? (Never saw "Dirty Dancing" either.)

Also, "You're The ONe That I Want" pisses all over all three, if duets count. (Tho I guess it's too energetic for wimp-rock.)

This thread is pwned by "Sometimes When We Touch," by Dan Hill. I remember being horrified hearing Totie Fields gushing about this song on The Mike Douglas Show, or maybe it was The Dinah Shore Show, saying something like "he's so young, but he writes with such understanding." The second, guard-down, end-of-the-horror or-James-Bond-movie spinechill moment came when I heard Flo and Eddie express a similar sentiment on some radio show or other.

I was hoping I'm Easy was the Commodores here...

I was hoping Haikunym would show up to back me up.

Actually, Keith Carradine's "I'm Easy" isn't that wimpy, it's really more of a I'm-a-sensitive-bad-boy-who-could-love-you-and-understand-you-better-than-your-man-ever-could -but-then-I've-got-to-move-on type of song.

I have a strange fondness for "She's Like the Wind," except that it begins with the deathless lyrics, "She's like the wind... through my tree." I ask you, WTF is that supposed to mean. I mean, Dirty Dancing was not an X-rated film!

"She's Like The Wind" was a rather nice ballad, although Mr. Swayze should of course have stuck to acting.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Thursday, 6 July 2006 00:18 (nineteen years ago)

OH MAN. In DC this weekend I was tormenting my buddy with my version of "She's Like The Wind," which was (I swear) no worse than Mr. Swayze's.

"I'm Easy" is probably a better song, but in the battle of the Raspy Amateurs I'll take Swayze. If a much more proficient singer had essayed these Hallmark lyrics it would have descended into a bathos from which it would never have arisen.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Thursday, 6 July 2006 00:21 (nineteen years ago)

How about "Heartbeat" by Don Johnson or "Hold On" by Jamie Walters?

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Thursday, 6 July 2006 00:24 (nineteen years ago)

"Heartbeat" is tripe. "Hold On" might have worked had Rick Springfield sung it.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Thursday, 6 July 2006 00:27 (nineteen years ago)

"Let Her In" by John Travolta stepping into the ring.

Carradine, easy.

I can't put bars on my inside
My love is something I can't hide

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Saturday, 17 November 2007 13:02 (seventeen years ago)
