Odd "similar artists" calculated by last.fm

So I look up Skyband (odd supergroup from the 70s that I love dearly) and it lists similar artists as:

Mass Tango
Anders & Poncia
Alison Breitman
Inner Dialogue
9353
Yuji Oniki
Daughters of Albion
World of Pooh

I am pretty certain that the only thing these artists have in common (aside from a general lack of success) is that I blogged about them some years ago (and have them all on my iTunes). I mean, yeah, I love em all but do I really have that much power? And what does this imply for other "similar artists" suggestions?

I just looked them up, and they only have 24 listeners. So yeah, it will be down to you. Similar artists are only calculated by what people are listening to - the larger the number of people who listen to a band, the more 'accurate' the similar artists will be. I've forced some very strange associations to be made with artists who have a similar number of listeners to Skyband.
