God Bless Tiny Tim and David Bowie on Deram

Anyone else think David Bowie's Deram material is actually pretty similar to Tiny Tim's debut and that while they've both been dismissed as novelties it's really brilliant work, completely terrifying. It seems to me that the both paint a portrait of a kind of psychos resulting from a world where both children and adults are caught in eternal adolescence. It's totally prescient of today’s world of 9 year olds in miniskirts and 40 year olds in Winnie the poo pajamas. Moreover, in the depart of music, the MOR pop orchestral arrangements in the context of bowie’s pyschadilito numbers set the work apart in a way that the adopting the “serious” rock sound never actually did, while some of the arrangements on God Bless Tiny Tim are down right avant-garde.

I was always fond of "We Are Hungry Men." Never really cared for the rest of it.

That's total overstatement.

Tiny Tim got me into Durtro records and then made me realize that its ok sometimes to have a penis in my mouth. Seriously, its ok.

Between cocksucking and 40-year-olds in Winnie the "Poo" [sic]pajamas you pseudo-intellectuals seem to have all the bases covered.
