Four is the most played out number in music

Seriously, how many more songs do I have to listen to where an instrument plays the same thing four times, and then another instrument comes in with a different riff of equal length, and they play together four times, and then, WHOA! A third instrument! And a fourth! (If it's electronic music, just replace "instrument" with "loop")

And it's in 4/4, a massively overused time signature, and the verses have four lines or eight lines, and the chorus has four or eight lines, or maybe even the same line four times.

one is teh loneliest number

5/4 is the tiredest "alternative time-signature" but 7/4 and 11/4 are underused.

Is anyone with me in my love of Dave Brubeck's "Unsquare Dance"?

I used to play in four time when I was very small
But recently I've realised the folly of it all
Supreme thoughts disturbed me, upset my decent mind
I started writing songs in all the rhythms I could find
Like five...

Seven is a jolly good time, seven is a jolly good time
It's just a very good sign to play in seven time

I found it hard to follow, my foot became confused
My facial muscles echoed the rhythms that I used
And now I found my mental gate playing in a brew
I gathered all the notes up and jumped 'em through a hoop
As in eleven...

Seven is a jolly good time, seven is a jolly good time
It's just a very good sign to play in seven time

You know, if we were all born with four fingers instead of five, we'd all be using the octal or hexadecimal system naturally, and not be bogged down by nature's cruel joke on us making us all base 10 and shit. Technology would be off the hook by now.
