I don't check out official websites too often, but I might start if there are a lot more doing stuff like this.Whether it's a web exclusive, an OOP gem or the entire backcatalog (in BJM's case) tell me some more artists offering full albums for free download on their website.

There are some other more noisy bands that do this sort of thing too-- Music Fellowship used to just give it all away, as I remember.
Finally, today I heard a Butthole Surfers song from 1996? The "I don't mind the sun sometimes..." track. And it was coming from a radio! I had to stop walking and make sure I wasn't hallucinating.

Any specific reason why LBV didn't reissue Double Live Bootleg, Uri? Or Pioughd and Widowermaker, for that matter? You seem to know a lot about the Buttholes.

They dont' have any "full albums" per se, but they have links to download a ton of their music.

Harvey Danger made a big thing out of doing this, as have several smaller bands. Animal, a band from Acme Michigan, did this but not all of it is still up. Sounds like Decayes only goofier.
There was a noise label from Providence who had done this that I just saw on ILM, though I can't remember their names...
(AND I'VE BEEN POXY FULED TWICE TRYING TO POST THIS COMMENT...)

Yeah, but that's because I drop around $500 on records every month or two. If someone is offering free music on their own website, I refuse to feel guilty about downloading it.Lots of bands offer stray tracks here and there, but "full albums" seems to be worth drawing attention to, hence the thread.

They're still selling the vinyl versions of Double Live they found over 2 years ago! The fact that it's a super-limited supply of the slightly better fidelity vinyl version and they haven't sold them ALL yet, leads me to believe that there is a lack of interest. They don't sell that many records these days to new fans, I think. Of course, the vinyl version doesn't have as many songs as the cassette version. Before they discovered the vinyl, they were already giving away the Double Live mp3s for free on their site, possibly to generate interest or thank their fans who stuck with them throught the T&G controversy, etc.
But, Pioughd, specifically, is still owned by Capitol, I think. I got it new on CD when it was reissued a couple years ago, but if it's currently out of print, I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for them to reissue it again. As for Widowermaker, I own that on cassette, and I'm glad they invested their money in releasing Humpty Dumpty LSD instead. I doubt they would convert any new fans with Widowermaker and they probably realize that, too.
