Blondie
Emo Bullshit
Spoon
New Pornographers
Kanye West
Steve Miller Band
A Tribe Called Quest
People on the other stages that I'm not gonna bother typing out

Disappointment that Breakestra & The Bellrays are on at the same time (Which one do I go see? Help me ILM)

Disappointment that Kanye & ATCQ are different nights, so I'll have to go twice

Discuss!

If I went it would only be for A Tribe Called Quest and the Upright Citizens Brigade performance. I'd rather see Neko Case than the New Pornographers. There are probably a few smaller acts that would be worth seeing, but this is Seattle we're talking about. Eh, I might go.

I dunno if everyone else is avoiding calling the emperor out on his nudity on th' first-post, but in truth, this looks dull as boiled milk and 1/2 as appetizing.

Not the hottest Bumpershoot line-up ever. And yet:

Dengue Fever
Bettye Lavette
English Beat
Veronicas
Sharon Jones
Vashti Bunyan

Having gone every year since 2001, this is pretty much the dullest one overall. No need to be afraid to say it.

..which might underscore why I'm still going to go.. there's more to Bumbershoot than bands. Coachella this is not. Obviously no recent Bumbershoot has had nearly as many stellar lineups. On the flip, Bumbershoot is not in the middle of a shitty city in the southeast part of California in the desert... it takes place in a full blown amusement center/park where you can happily attend just for the fair festivities and ignore any music.. just check out Flatstock, the literature forums, sit on the grass, have beer, and last but not least, eat the BRICK O' FRIES!

It's all about the motherfucking brick o' fries. That may be reason enough to attend. I'm sure there will be quality beer on site as well.

In what way am I nude?

I think you missed a good 2/3 of the metaphor just so's that you could take it personally, Rod.

Blondie and English Beat are enough for me, bring it on! Lots of other bands there I don't know, but hey, I'm adventurous.

Yeah, the lineup is whatever but I always enjoy going and am planning/hoping to make it there this year too, despite my living in NYC.

I know the story of the Emporer's new clothes, I just see how it applies. It's not like I was all "OMG! BEST THING EVER!"

i was all expecting the list to be terrible but then i looked with the you-must-pick-a half-dozen-to-see imperative and was pleasantly surprised: deadbeat, kanye, lidell, SOV, deerhoof, vashti b, jose gonzales. also maybe feist and the trapped in the closet panel. or maybe that would suck.

not so great that i'll pay $18 (minimum) a day though, i don't think.
