Please explain AMG's track picks to me.

This isn't intended to be an AMG-bashing thread because for the most part, I like the site and use it a lot. But the inconsistency of the rating system and worse, the checked track picks, drive me nuts.
I went on today to look up a review for The Nines' "Properties of Sound" and it states that "Doesn't Matter What I Do" and "Melanie" are "the album's two very best songs."
Why then are neither of them checked off as an AMG track pick? That honor goes to three other songs. It's as if a completely different person is making the track picks. Is this the case?
I find this in a lot of AMG reviews and I'm just curious.

Preview tracks "not the best tracks off the album" shockah!

Track picks are sometimes made before a review is submitted. Conflict is more likely to happen when the review comes from a freelancer (the case here). The track picks as a general rule are intended to represent the album.

See, that's just wrong.

It's very possible that the review in question was submitted weeks or months after the album came out. We wouldn't wait for a review to roll in before doing that work.

You might be surprised to find out how complex it is to coordinate everything that goes into the database, Jim.

I don't pay much attention to the track picks, but I do enjoy the track reviews, when they occur...anybody care to shed some light as to how a track is selected for individual review?

Andy,
Oh, I have no doubt that coordinating the database is a difficult and complex task (and I thank AMG staffers for all the hard work they do). It's just that as a reader, I'm always scratching my head when the album review and the track picks don't jive.
Thanks for the explanation.

AMG employees are currently too busy today applying here to fix the track picks. Besides, that's Ned's job!

It's understandable, Jim.

Hello, Aaron.
