THAT IS ALL

fauxhemian (fauxhemian), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 03:52 (nineteen years ago)

huh?

i like that record.

i don't know if it's "badass"

M@tt He1geson: Real Name, No Gimmicks (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 03:56 (nineteen years ago)

oh it's totally badass. like every song = alex chilton as the most bitter, fucked up human being alive. it's the best drinking-post-pissed-off-at-the-rest-of-the-world album EVER.

fauxhemian (fauxhemian), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 03:58 (nineteen years ago)

you can see him sneering at least once in every song.

fauxhemian (fauxhemian), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 04:00 (nineteen years ago)

maybe not 'back of a car,' but that was bell right?

fauxhemian (fauxhemian), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 04:00 (nineteen years ago)

'life is white' = i'm so bored with you i don't care if you live or die END OF SONG

fauxhemian (fauxhemian), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 04:03 (nineteen years ago)

i thought bell left after the first one. i can't remember anymore.

M@tt He1geson: Real Name, No Gimmicks (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 04:04 (nineteen years ago)

and i thought maybe jody stephen sang life is white.

M@tt He1geson: Real Name, No Gimmicks (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 04:04 (nineteen years ago)

Radio City is the weakest Big Star, anyways. I'mma have to go with "what is Confusion is Sex?" in the Badder than Thou category for $600, Alex.

Shoes say, yeah, no hands clap your good bra. (goodbra), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 04:08 (nineteen years ago)

rumor has it bell helped out on 'radio city' in spite of the leave. you can totally hear it on some songs. also, life is white is written by chilton, hummell and pretty much SANG BY CHILTON. maybe be familiar w/ album before making dumbass comments. shoes say right on latter, wrong on former.

fauxhemian (fauxhemian), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 04:16 (nineteen years ago)

maybe be familiar w/ album before making dumbass comments.

i have the album...i went through a huge big star phase in college but i don't remember all the trainspotting b.s. anymore. i haven't listened to big star in like five years, so maybe you can like maybe fuck off or something. but, hey, i'm glad you like radio city, it's pretty neat and everything. badass.

M@tt He1geson: Real Name, No Gimmicks (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 04:18 (nineteen years ago)

haha sweet.

fauxhemian (fauxhemian), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 04:20 (nineteen years ago)

PEACE

fauxhemian (fauxhemian), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 04:20 (nineteen years ago)

-- Shoes say, yeah, no hands clap your good bra. (libcryp...), July 24th, 2006.[/i]

A special place is reserved in hell for you my friend. A very special place. Radio City is THE Big Star record! Fauxhemian is on to something. I dunno if badass is the right term, though.

Brooker Buckingham (Brooker B), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 04:39 (nineteen years ago)

Raw Power is the most badass record of all time. Or Metallic KO.

Brooker Buckingham (Brooker B), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 04:40 (nineteen years ago)

it's so strange, this album is sounding more punk to me than punk right now. i guess that's where the 'badass' thing came from, which probably translates into 'ac/dc' for a lot of people, so i guess it's not the right term to use. yes, the melodies are pretty, but the rock is so disjointed and boiled down and the lyrics are so wilting/destroying that it's like the most real thing ever. that to me = badass

fauxhemian (fauxhemian), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 04:45 (nineteen years ago)

yeah i hear ya on raw power. maybe i mean 'misanthropic' instead of 'badass.'

fauxhemian (fauxhemian), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 04:46 (nineteen years ago)

more like strugglintoexplain@gmail.com lol

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 04:52 (nineteen years ago)

dude yeah raw power is like the kid you never see in fifth grade because he's dealing pot 30 min. after recess while radio city is the dude you couldn't pick out in a class photo who killed himself halfway through sixth grade and made you feel superficially bad about suicides who you didn't even know in the first place.

fauxhemian (fauxhemian), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 04:53 (nineteen years ago)

hey guess what moran, no l in the e-mail addy. SO YOUR CLEVER PUN IS FOILED.

fauxhemian (fauxhemian), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 04:54 (nineteen years ago)

well see I changed it from "struggin" to "strugglin" and then elaborated.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 04:55 (nineteen years ago)

O I SEE

fauxhemian (fauxhemian), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 04:58 (nineteen years ago)

MASTERPIECE THEATRE.

fauxhemian (fauxhemian), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 05:00 (nineteen years ago)

ok, maybe i should be posting to the 'drunk/applauding' thread on ILE.

fauxhemian (fauxhemian), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 05:01 (nineteen years ago)

anyways, to all you US peeps out there, listen to 'radio city' in its entiretly next time you get the chance and feel me. OUT

fauxhemian (fauxhemian), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 05:03 (nineteen years ago)

oh shit, 'entirety.' I AM NOT DRUNK

fauxhemian (fauxhemian), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 05:04 (nineteen years ago)

I certainly wouldn't say that Radio City is bad. It's just that it's about #139 on my 100-alltime-badass-est-list of records, somewhere below Berlin and above Led Zeppelin IV.

Shoes say, yeah, no hands clap your good bra. (goodbra), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 05:05 (nineteen years ago)

i second metallic k.o.. taunting a bar-full of methed-up bikers has to take the cake.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 05:14 (nineteen years ago)

Murder Ballads!

Duh.

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 08:49 (nineteen years ago)

Stagger Lee kicks the asses of songs like these every single day.

Ben Dot (1977), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 09:22 (nineteen years ago)

I'm thinking "Freaks, Faggots, Drunks & Junkies" by GG Allin might be slightly more badass than any of these.

Not that it's very good, mind.

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 09:57 (nineteen years ago)

I'm afraid discussion of this topic is moot, as the baddest assest song of all time has been scientifically PROVED to be Rumble.

ewmy (ewmy), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 10:34 (nineteen years ago)

I'm afraid discussion of this topic is moot, as the baddest assest song of all time has been scientifically PROVED to be Rumble.

we have a winner. any instrumental record banned for obscenity is, by definition, the baddest-ass record in the history of everything.

Link Wray is always correct answer - nothing against Alex Chilton, but Link beats him w/ 0 words and half the lungs...

Double Nickels On The Dime

kornrulez6969 (TCBeing), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 12:56 (nineteen years ago)

Rumble is totally badass! Good call.

I know what fauxhemian is saying about Radio City. There is something so brilliantly subversive and dark about the juxtaposition between chimey, beatific pop songs and misanthropic, self-flagellating lyrics.

Brooker Buckingham (Brooker B), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 14:15 (nineteen years ago)

Great record, yes. But Badass is not the right adjective here.

Double Nickles is pretty badass.

Mr. Que (Mr.Que), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 14:21 (nineteen years ago)

There's already a Radio City thread

Zwan (miccio), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 14:21 (nineteen years ago)

but not one as BADASS as this one!

Badass record cover does not equal badass record. This, however, is a badass record:

Edward III (edward iii), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 14:54 (nineteen years ago)

I was torn.

Annie Get Your Gin (noodle vague), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 14:55 (nineteen years ago)

since we're on the topic of geto boys records (and record covers):

i only own the "minds playing tricks on me" 12", but there's something incredible about those candid shots and dull fonts.

For a second I thought Bushwick Bill was talking on the defibrilator. THAT would be badass.
