A very Michael Stipe-ish move at this point.

So, uh, any word from Fatone?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 26 July 2006 15:30 (nineteen years ago)

a name means a lot just by itself (lfam), Wednesday, 26 July 2006 17:56 (nineteen years ago)

Didn't get he get caught partying in Provincetown? Isn't that what set this off?

Visiting P-Town under any circumstances (I don't care if you bring your family with you!) increases the odds that you will get the Fag Tag from the general public. They know what goes on down there!

Nsync is teh straiht

It's Rodney, currently unemployed! (R. J. Greene), Wednesday, 26 July 2006 20:39 (nineteen years ago)

From what I've heard, Perez Hilton's been trying to out him for ages now, though it really hotted up with the being-seen-in-Provincetown etc business recently. I'm kind of... divided about this: if it's that he finally feels comfortable enough to come out and doesn't fear that revealing his sexuality will have too adverse an effect on his friends/family/etc, then it's wonderful. But I'm really uncomfortable with the forcible-outing thing, there's levels of really unpleasant invasions of privacy etc there. Still- I really hope things go right for him, he was one of my favourite members of 'nsync.

stop moving. (cis), Wednesday, 26 July 2006 20:58 (nineteen years ago)

what the fuck is a "power bottom"?

In general I approve of the forcible outing of public figures, particularly when they're people like this asshole: http://rawstory.com/exclusives/byrne/schrock_resigns_gay_phone_sex_tapes_830.htm
Altho a popstar is kinda a different animal.

Shakey Mo Collier (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 26 July 2006 21:06 (nineteen years ago)

trees (treesessplode), Wednesday, 26 July 2006 21:07 (nineteen years ago)

The look in Elton's eyes is chilling. He really does look like a man who's seen too much and can never go back. Goodbye Yello Brick Road, indeed.

But I'm really uncomfortable with the forcible-outing thing, there's levels of really unpleasant invasions of privacy etc there.

It's a two-way street, I think. Being a homosexual pop star is sort of like being a Christian rock band these days...if you are up front about it people are going to say that you're "Shoving it down our throats" and that it's offensive that your using it as part of your image. While if you keep it to yourself and don't make it a part of your public persona you will eventually be accused of be a "self-hating gay" or a "stealth" Christian rock band. It's very hard to please everybody in these situations.

Cunga (Cunga), Thursday, 27 July 2006 02:06 (nineteen years ago)

You're*

Cunga (Cunga), Thursday, 27 July 2006 02:07 (nineteen years ago)

timmy tannin (pompous), Thursday, 27 July 2006 03:02 (nineteen years ago)

He was always the gayest seeming guy from a group of guys that seemed incredibly gay. Not suprising.

Keith White (tkeithwhite), Thursday, 27 July 2006 04:20 (nineteen years ago)

can we neogiate with teh breeders, we will trade lance bass for tim mcgraw and a free agent to be named lateR?

anthony easton (anthony), Thursday, 27 July 2006 04:37 (nineteen years ago)

Sure, we'll even toss in Lenny Kravitz for free.

It's Rodney, currently unemployed! (R. J. Greene), Thursday, 27 July 2006 04:44 (nineteen years ago)

I always thought Justin seemed the gayest. It might've been the hairdo. When I was 13 I had a friend who looked almost exactly like Lance Bass. Last time I saw him he was surrounded by girls. Hmmm...guess that could mean anything.

Marmot 4-Tay: Hold these goddamn chickens! (marmotwolof), Thursday, 27 July 2006 05:09 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, but Justin is also a teaser. God! Remember your Tigerbeat.

trees (treesessplode), Thursday, 27 July 2006 05:10 (nineteen years ago)

I'm beginning to wish I had fit the right age demographic when the boy band era was at its height. Think about it. You show up at these pop concerts with thousands of young women, mostly aged 12-18, and they all love these five guys on the stage. At least one of the guys is gay, another one is dating a high profile Hollywood Actress, one is married, another is devoutly religious and has promised himself to remain celibate until marriage and only one of them is engaging in an unholy orgy every night with these women. That leaves thousands of randy teenage girls with no outlet for their sexual energy. Boy band concerts would've been ideal hangouts for teenage boys, if going to a boy band concert didn't ironically make them a "fag" in the eyes of their peers. The missed opportunities!

And to top it off, all of the times teenage girls thought Lance Bass was looking at them from the stage, he was actually scoping out their boyfriends. Irony wins!

Cunga (Cunga), Thursday, 27 July 2006 05:46 (nineteen years ago)

what a surprise. the gay guy from nsync comes out as gay! OMG!

el juan (el juan), Thursday, 27 July 2006 06:13 (nineteen years ago)

Not as surprising though as Darren Hayes from Savage Garden getting married to his boyfriend.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 27 July 2006 06:46 (nineteen years ago)

To be fair, Lance has never put out a gigantic coming-out record like Darren has.

edward o (edwardo), Thursday, 27 July 2006 07:26 (nineteen years ago)

he was one of my favourite members of 'nsync

top 5 no question

jhoshea (scoopsnoodle), Thursday, 27 July 2006 10:58 (nineteen years ago)

popjustice: We're very happy for him and 'all that' but this is getting out of hand - meaning that there are now EIGHT homosexuals working in the pop music industry.

The list, as it currently stands, is:

1. Homosexual pop singer George Michael.
2. Homosexual pop singer Darren Hayes.
3. Homosexual pop singer Elton John.
4. Homosexual pop singer From The Feeling.
5. Homosexual pop singer Stephin Merritt.
6. Homosexual pop singer Boy George.
7. Homosexual pop singer Will Young.
8. Lance Bass.

These are just the ones we know about. In reality, the list probably runs to over twelve people.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Thursday, 27 July 2006 11:15 (nineteen years ago)

shouldn't that read: 8. Homosexual pop singer Lance Bass.?

jhoshea (scoopsnoodle), Thursday, 27 July 2006 11:19 (nineteen years ago)

The dreams of the 8 teenage girls who still remember who this guy is have been crushed.

Adam J. (In Place of Something Clever), Thursday, 27 July 2006 11:50 (nineteen years ago)

what the fuck is a "power bottom"?

Your guess is as good as I mine, but I suspect he proudly wears the tag for the extra credit he expects for not being entirely still when you top him.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 27 July 2006 12:49 (nineteen years ago)

He's always looked like a potential girlfriend of Ellen DeGeneres' anyway.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Thursday, 27 July 2006 12:57 (nineteen years ago)

I keep reading the subject line to mean "Lance Bass says I'm gay"

haha (ha ha), Thursday, 27 July 2006 19:57 (nineteen years ago)

I think you are mixing and misquoting your boy band references.

Marmot 4-Tay: Hold these goddamn chickens! (marmotwolof), Thursday, 27 July 2006 20:06 (nineteen years ago)

I thought we were talking about Lance Bass and Power Ballads.

WHY ILM!? WHY!?!?

Cunga (Cunga), Friday, 28 July 2006 02:01 (nineteen years ago)

i'd like to think that the world thought this more of a redundant statement than an actual outing...
i might be wrong, but i think we all sorta recoiled in absolute apathy...'so?'

edde (edde), Friday, 28 July 2006 18:21 (nineteen years ago)

richard said withdrawal in disgust is not the same as apathy, etc.

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Friday, 28 July 2006 18:23 (nineteen years ago)

two years pass...

I've never heard this Aiken character, but surely the new swarm of anticlimactically uncloseted pop fags will save the Republic!

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 24 September 2008 17:37 (seventeen years ago)

it was "I'm gay" day with him and Lohan

akm, Wednesday, 24 September 2008 18:22 (seventeen years ago)

I'd make out with Lance Bass if I bumped into him at Foot Locker.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Wednesday, 24 September 2008 18:28 (seventeen years ago)

ew!

I know, right?, Wednesday, 24 September 2008 18:32 (seventeen years ago)
