Looking for songs good for a hot summer day!

Its 101 degrees outside and I'm needing good "hot summer's day" songs for my radio program tonight. Genres I cover are mostly are "punk, post-punk, new wave, modern rock, and indie rock," but will consider most anything to hit the 120 minute mark for my show.

Here's my (very ) short list so far to give you an idea of what I'm seeking. Songs don't necessarily have to be about "hot" but the general idea is that I'd like to provide a "soundtrack" for these hot "dog days" of early august :

The Fall – British People in Hot Weather
The Cure- Hot Hot Hot
Red Hot Chili Peppers – They’re Red Hot
Style Council - Long Hot Summer
The Alarm – Rain in the Summertime

Thanks!

sorry summer madness, already mentioned, my bad

gaseous (gaseous), Saturday, 5 August 2006 18:37 (eighteen years ago)

does it really have to have f'in SUMMER in the title to be a good summer song?

gaseous (gaseous), Saturday, 5 August 2006 18:39 (eighteen years ago)

There are fun summer songs, like Spiritualized's Lay Back In The Sun, but the best kind of summer song IMO is the langorous, chilled, psychedelic one.

Examples of this with 'summer' in the title include 'David's Last Summer' by Pulp (a masterpiece, btw and I won't hear a word said against it), 'Summer's Cauldron' by XTC, and 'Summer' by Mogwai.

Examples of this without 'summer' in the title coming up shortly...

In alphabetical order:

Bark Psychosis - Rose
Beck - Blackhole
Almost ANYTHING by The Beta Band but probably The Cow's Wrong
Crash Test Dummies - Swatting Flies
Flaming Lips - Slow Nerve Action
Grandaddy - So You'll Aim Toward The Sky
Julian Cope - Land Of Fear
Love - You Set The Scene
M83 - Lower Your Eyelids To Die With The Sun
Mercury Rev - Hercules
Mogwai - Fear Satan
Orbital - Out There Somewhere?
Primal Scream - Shoot Speed/Kill Light
Ride - OX4 OR Today
The Stone Roses - I Am The Resurrection
Talk Talk - Runeii
Yes - To Be Over

And if you've spotted the point I'm trying to make about what kind of songs often constitute this 'summery' feel, well done :-)
