I did, actually, Dom. 'Soulseek Etiquette' is just the sort of name I'd expect for a vaguely 'literary' new indie-group, combining psychological yearning with a sense of propriety and decorum, thus inveigling the listener in a labyrinth of emotional rulings and definitions, things which in a perfect world one should never apply to emotions, before the CD is even played. And that last sentence is just the sort of review I'd expect to be written about it.

sending messages to users is verboten pretty much i'd say. i hate getting them, although it rarely happens these days as people have cottoned on to its naffness.

I dunno, sometimes it's nice to get a wee 'thank you' message, A certain girl I know used to get quite a lot of creepy groomimg/stalker type messages, I think that was 'cause she had porn in her shared folder 'though... 'share or be banned' is really or you need to know, but some users can be really cantankerous, banning you on grounds of taste etc, which I always think is really funny, and a bit of a result.

I tried to download one song and got banned, think it was a mistake to try and use it without reading the instructions. It's all a bit technical for a luddite like me.

slsk crashes for me all the time (and I have a totally dope computer and have reinstalled it so fo). Can't remember the last time I used it to download something. Also not particularly amused that my username is apparently jerry_10101 which I certainly didn't choose. Oink all the way.

I'm sure there was a thread here for classic Soulseek stupidity, but I can't find it.

Had a great run in with someone today.

Got banned for downloading an album - messaged the guy, it was because I was sharing LESS THAN 300 GIG!
I asked if he himself downloaded from people with less than 300 gig and he proceeded to tell me I was destroying Soulseek because I donate money.
Awesome.

Please fill me with joy with tales of other Soulseek idiots.
(p.s. Personal faves are people who will only start your download after they have looked through your music, found something they like and their download has started: YOU'VE STOLEN ALL THESE MP3s, THEY HAVE NO VALUE, SEEK HELP)

i always get bitched out for going into obscure genre rooms and asking questions like "hey anyone wanna show me some cool minimalist anatolian funk?" aside from that sharing, organizing your files in a logical & presentable manner (dont you hate it when you click 'download contained folder' and you download all the music on someone's computer?) and not turning your computer off or signing out before people are done uploading are common courtesies that i wish more soulseek users would abide by.

Yes, but, I make it a point to always check my transfer screen as soon as I select this to take responsibility for any mishaps (shift+select+delete fixed errors in seconds on both sides).

It's not their responsibility to organize their files to my preferences. It's my responsibility to not queue up 100s of files.

And vice versa.

I'm sharing 40,000+ files. There's ALWAYS someone downloading from me, at any given time. I do have to logoff at some point!
