It says here. But wasn't there a band called the Dragons back in the early eighties that kicked it all off over there to start with?

No, no Ned - you're thinking of the Gang of Four! They were around wayyy before the early '80s.

Sixiang Shop is a Chinese punk-rock store. You can pick up:

-An MXPX shirt.

-A Blink-182 Shirt

-A shirt that says, "Beijing Punk"

-A shirt with two robots that says, "Ska Dance"

But my favorite is the one with the picture of Bruce Lee giving the finger that says, "All the Crime to Fuck You."

Punk rock, indeed.

According to wikipedia...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_China

"In the late 1980s Cui Jian played the first Chinese rock song called: "I Have Nothing" ("Yi wu suo you"). It was the first time that an electric guitar was used in China."

This seems to me to be highly unlikely.

I've never heard of The Dragons but Dee Dee Ramone was in a band called the Chinese Dragons.

Always wanted to hear the Dragons after I read about them in the Trouser Press Guide

http://www.trouserpress.com/entry.php?a=dragons

"DRAGONS (Buy CDs by this artist)
Parfums de la Révolution (Fr. Blitzkrieg) 1982

"A piece of punk exotica: three underground musicians from mainland China recorded in secret by a visiting Frenchman. (Done, thankfully, before the brief 1985 tour there by Wham!) Using only vocals, electric guitar, rudimentary drums and Chinese violin, the trio attempts "Anarchy in the UK" and "Get off My Cloud" with truly bizarre results; the remaining seven tracks are originals in a more traditional Oriental vein. A fascinating transliteration of rock from a country not generally considered in terms of modern music. [Ira Robbins]"
