Help me, ILMers.. this has been dogging me for years. The Princess Superstar song Fried Chicken is irresistibly catchy to me, in no small part due to the "doot-doot-doot-doot-doo-doot-dooooo" beat that runs throughout the song, sped up, slowed down. There are several Beatles references in the song, as well as Paul’s voice saying "get back," but I can’t figure out what the other very familiar seeming beat is. It seems like it's a very famous disco song that will make me slap my forehead in shame. Can anyone help me?

I have search teh googles and this board for answers, to no avail..

Fair enough.. I do not have it on my computer here at work, but I can try to bring it in on Monday.. :) I was hoping someone on this wonderful board might happen to know this offhand.

I'm sorry to be so annoying with the caps and whatnot but this has been driving me nuts for YEARS.

I have played the song to countless friends, relatives.. I stop people on the street and make them listen to it.. okay, maybe I don't. Obviously I don't have enough Stones-loving friends!

well, that's your problem right there! ;-)

The guitar riff's from David Bowie's "Stay." The bass riff in the second half of the song is from the Beatles' "I Want You (She's So Heavy)."

Yeah, well, if I had more Stones-loving friends I might not have cut up that original Some Girls LP cover. :P

The riff in the first part of the song is Bowie's, otm. I think the one under discussion is the one that is sped up and slowed down during the second part (The day in the life section), which I believe is from "Hot Stuff").

But hey, whatev. If I was wrong, sorry about that, just trying to help.

I found both songs last night and had the best sleep I've had in years. Thanks Saxby, Douglas!

Personally I think Fried Chicken is better than any of those songs - and I like both the Rolling Stones and Ver Bowie!
