MISSION

Undress Me Robot is an online initiative aimed at introducing the internet community to the best music, books, and movies around. We are here to obliterate the perpetuation of the terrible indie-snob stereotype, while expressing our love of music, literature, and other culture-related things.

This site's for the people; it does not shape the people. Share your opinions! If we are wrong or sound too pretentious, tell us! We promise never to scoff in your general direction, even if you've never heard of a band! We want to spread the word of those great bands that you might never have heard of and also share alternative opinions on some bands that you might have already read about. Help us do our thing! Listen to the undress me robot, then undress me, robot!

New Jack said when he worked for XPW he use to go to a warehouse of sorts for Extreme Associates and Rob Black would pay him in hundreds of porn DVDs.

"I scoff in your general direction! Your muzzer was a 'amster..."

Louis Jagger (Haberdager), Friday, 11 August 2006 20:30 (nineteen years ago)

I'm idle because I need more places to pay me, not because I need more places to write for free.

js (honestengine), Friday, 11 August 2006 20:30 (nineteen years ago)

I like "please send samples". You have to audition to write for nothing?

What the fuck do you expect them to say Noodle, "we will publish absolutely anything you send, no matter how bad"?

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Friday, 11 August 2006 21:18 (nineteen years ago)

No but " we will pay for anything we publish " might be a start...

winter testing (winter testing), Friday, 11 August 2006 21:19 (nineteen years ago)

anyway, can we agree that the answer to this thread is "Yes"

and then Lock Thread?

winter testing (winter testing), Friday, 11 August 2006 21:22 (nineteen years ago)

I assume they're not a professional setup and don't have any money. People come on here all the time asking for unpaid contributions to their webzine or whatever, and don't get all this shit, what's wrong with you all?

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Friday, 11 August 2006 21:34 (nineteen years ago)

yep after yesterday's telethon appeal we're all charidee'd out and taking it out on this poor kid setting up his fanzine. Anyway, as evidenced by my general illiteracy, I'm no writer. I just felt like putting the boot in.

winter testing (winter testing), Friday, 11 August 2006 21:38 (nineteen years ago)

The list of CDs they would like people to review is a bit weird though, some of those records are 2 or 3 years old

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Friday, 11 August 2006 21:41 (nineteen years ago)

jeez - i forgot how brutal some boards can get...

anyway, mencap is fully correct. we are not professionals, nor do we have any money, and we do have some suspiciously old records to review. the fact is we just like listening to music, reading books, watching movies and generally talking about our culture. considering the title of this board is "i love music," i was hoping there would be some people out there who would be willing to write for us as a hobby or out of their joy of music over anything else. if that's not you, alright, but there's no reason to insult us because of it.

our website is a growing community. once we get enough traffic and can get some revenue from ads then we will pay our writers. until then, we can only run on love. so please, spread the love.

roman of jersey (ukeboyska), Friday, 11 August 2006 23:15 (nineteen years ago)

s'alright. We like you really.

winter testing (winter testing), Friday, 11 August 2006 23:22 (nineteen years ago)

Bumped. Cause I love to self-promote. Visit undressmerobot.com where I write a review of a classic 70s album once a week.

God, I'm such a shill.

fun, fun, fun.

you know, writing for nothing is underrated in some ways - especially because sometimes writing for nothing is the only way to be able to write about certain books/music/film.

which isn't to say that i'm gonna try to write for this site - lord knows i'm giving away enough writing for magazines/promos/self-satisfaction already!

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 15:57 (eighteen years ago)

Undress Me Robot is only fun if you say it with a pirate accent. Like "Undress me robot, arrrgh."

js (honestengine), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 23:28 (eighteen years ago)

i LOVE reviewing idle music, myself.
