So, why on Earth did Ivo Watts-Russell leave 4AD?

So, why? I've tried reading some interviews and articles to find out, but... nothing.
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. I've only gotten into 4AD maybe five months ago, and I am just enthralled with the label. I've probably gathered like, thirty or so releases since. And, I'm just a young'n, if that might be an excuse for asking a possibly stupid question.

I don't know, Kerr, there's discussion and then there's asking questions that have already been answered qiute elaborately. If you leave the gates open, you'll have a repetition of questions that have been asked a million times before.

It sounds like Ivo retired and sold his share to Beggars Banquet.

Here's an excerpt from the label history on Facing the Wrong Way:
With almost twenty years of service at 4AD, Ivo decided to step down and sell 4AD back to the label that helped give birth to it. Martin Mills at Beggars Banquet decided to keep 4AD's mandate of finding unique and quality music alive by carefully selecting a new staff for 4AD in late 1999.
