Classic Italo expert needed!

So, I got this compilation CD a few years ago from a girl in Milan...actually, she accidentally left it with me. Alot of it is the usual standard Ibiza trance crap...but for some reason she had a few outstanding early 80's italo tracks torwards the end of it. I know all of them except for ONE... that sounds like some Man Parrish shit meets uber poppy end of New Order meets a euro chach nightride in a Alpha Romero with a girl in a neon miniskirt.
Serioulsy, this track is the shit and I have NO idea who did it or what the track is called.
I'm looking for a serious italo expert to figure it out. If ya think you might be able to help, I'll email you the track & will forever be grateful. I can reached at
astronautagogo at hotmail dot com
Thanks much

sample? lyrics?

Sir Dr. Rev. PappaWheelie Jr. II of The Third Kind (PappaWheelie 2), Saturday, 12 August 2006 21:09 (nineteen years ago)

It's only got a vocoder chorus and can't make out any of the words! It's about 7 minutes long...it's funky too!

astronautagogo (astronautagogo), Saturday, 12 August 2006 21:15 (nineteen years ago)

not enough. sorry

Sir Dr. Rev. PappaWheelie Jr. II of The Third Kind (PappaWheelie 2), Saturday, 12 August 2006 21:20 (nineteen years ago)

I've submitted it to my record dealer friend for an ID. There's about 30 seconds in the middle when it drags but this is an amazing fucking song.

Glossoleia (scnrdrkly), Saturday, 12 August 2006 21:46 (nineteen years ago)

I know, i'm not just hyping it, it's seriously a fucking incredible track!

astronautagogo (astronautagogo), Saturday, 12 August 2006 23:19 (nineteen years ago)

It's "Void Vision" by Cyber People.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Sunday, 13 August 2006 00:19 (nineteen years ago)

One of my faves, it's got a bit of a hi-nrg vibe going on.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Sunday, 13 August 2006 05:33 (nineteen years ago)

Send me this track! I have to know what great Italo sounds like!

brightscreamer (brightscreamer), Sunday, 13 August 2006 13:23 (nineteen years ago)

great Italo sounds like Spacer Woman. If you don't like that, chances are, you won't like Italo

Sir Dr. Rev. PappaWheelie Jr. II of The Third Kind (PappaWheelie 2), Sunday, 13 August 2006 13:35 (nineteen years ago)

I have to know what great Italo sounds like!

Buy this at Dustygroove.com/wherever, or look for this.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 04:20 (nineteen years ago)

Aye - sounds like it's Void Vision.

JohnFoxxsJuno (JohnFoxxsJuno), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 06:52 (nineteen years ago)

Mixed Up was available for a while to dl for free on the CBS or Viewlexx website but I can't seem to find it right now.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 17:48 (nineteen years ago)

Just downloaded this tune. Good shout, its brilliant. Any more like this???

Griff Sheridan (Griff Sheridan), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 18:09 (nineteen years ago)

but I can't seem to find it right now.

It was on CBS ... I went looking for it too to link it here and it's listed on the mix page but the download number is greyed out and no longer a link. I guess it's been taken down.

dmr (Renard), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 18:25 (nineteen years ago)

hey griff, just search any of the italo threads already existing and listen to anything I've ever recommended. It's all good...

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 19:52 (nineteen years ago)

Here's a quick starter for you:

Mr Flagio - Take A Chance
Ken Lazslo - Hey Hey Guy
Transvolta - Disco Computer
Alexander Robotnik - Problemes D'Amour
Naif Orchestra - Check-Out Five
Telex - Moskow Diskow

do a google for Cultheroes and download their mixes, I stumbled across it a few years back and they were a revelation. Also check the various mixes over at Cybernetic Broadcasting.

JohnFoxxsJuno (JohnFoxxsJuno), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 20:03 (nineteen years ago)

Don't want to jinx my own purchase but "Mixed Up In The Hague" has just been re-released (limited edition apparently).

rollin', rollin', rollin', keep them dogies rollin', rawhide! thread (fandango), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 20:06 (nineteen years ago)

http://www.soundsoftheuniverse.com/

Yup both volumes of Mixed Up rereleased, hence they've been taken down from viewlexx

Jamie T Smith (Jamie T Smith), Thursday, 17 August 2006 12:15 (nineteen years ago)

wow, stingy reissue >:(

card slipsleeve, no tracklisting, no cuepoints(!), stupid sealing sticker on the edge (glue on paper - cut, do not peel!), I'm not even sure if it's a 'real' printed CD going by the rubbery label and the odd golden shine, although it doesn't come up as a CDR in Windows so...

It sounds slightly sweeter than my old 128kbps download, but that could just be psychological so far. Hope someone is getting royalties here.

also, unrelated... Boomkat staff have the fattest fingers in the entire shop-o-verse. How many new cd's come with pre-broken nubbins from these dudes? 1 in every 3?

bad hair day house (fandango), Wednesday, 23 August 2006 08:30 (nineteen years ago)

are you talking about Mixed Up? It's a BOOTLEG. Nobody is getting royalties. The lack of tracklisting though is classic bootleg activity, made it a mystery, made the kids dig a bit.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Wednesday, 23 August 2006 13:22 (nineteen years ago)

well that's me feeling like a dummy and swearing off late-night shopping for a bit :P

bad hair day house (fandango), Wednesday, 23 August 2006 13:31 (nineteen years ago)

and I know all the jaded newbie italo experts out there are like "duh, those are obvious tracks" but like, I dunno, those of us who heard that mix in 2000 or whatever, I reckon I wasn't the only one who was like WHAT THE FUCK ARE THESE SONGS!??!?!?

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Wednesday, 23 August 2006 15:37 (nineteen years ago)

Definitely, I was hooked on italo in the 80s but back then I never liked the intrumental/space stuff (well, apart from LASERDANCE), so for me that comp was a real eyeopener too.

Siegbran (eofor), Wednesday, 23 August 2006 18:41 (nineteen years ago)

heh, I was completely late to it all. goodgreat mix though!

bad hair day house (fandango), Wednesday, 23 August 2006 20:59 (nineteen years ago)

one year passes...

Absolutely mind blowing mix of italo classics from Casco aka Salvatore Cusato. Just sharing the italo love with fellow Ilm'ers.

Z S, Saturday, 26 July 2008 06:28 (seventeen years ago)

aw jeez, "Spacer Woman" drum hits out of nowhere, excellent.

Z S, Saturday, 26 July 2008 06:31 (seventeen years ago)

Scotch - Collision (remixed) at 32:00.

Z S, Saturday, 26 July 2008 06:40 (seventeen years ago)

er, sorry, not (remixed) version.

Z S, Saturday, 26 July 2008 06:46 (seventeen years ago)

i actually really thought i liked italo when all i had heard was the I-F "mixed up in the hague" disc.

but as i bought more and more of it i started to like it less.

what gives.

moonship journey to baja, Saturday, 26 July 2008 06:51 (seventeen years ago)

agreed, vahid. it's like digging through classical records at the thrift store, so much work, so little rewards. that's why i rely on great mixes like this one to deal. haha grady had the same idea ;)

oscar, Saturday, 26 July 2008 19:39 (seventeen years ago)

just gave it a quick listen, lots of records from the hague/i-robots canon:

4:00 capricorn - i need love
5:30 klein & mbo - dirty talk (instr)
8:00 alexander robotnick - problemes d'amour
11:00 a mix of gaz nevada's "ic love affair"
14:00 bmc - stop
17:00 bmc - livin' it up
19:00 mr master - a dog in the night
21:00 casco - cybernetic love
24:00 mr flagio - take a chance
27:00 charlie - spacer woman
32:00 dharma - plastic doll (instr)
34:00 sphinx - collision
36:00 scotch - pinguins invasion
39:00 cellophane - gimmy love
41:00 doctor's cat - feel the drive
45:30 brand image - are you loving
58:30 my mine - hypnotic tango
62:00 o'gar - playback fantasy

Michael F Gill, Saturday, 26 July 2008 20:59 (seventeen years ago)

Whoa, thanks Michael, that's useful. I only recognized the I-robots part of the mix; I haven't heard the Hague disc.

Z S, Saturday, 26 July 2008 21:02 (seventeen years ago)

good italo = hard to find
bad italo = fairly abundant
i've binged, i've purged.
live. learn.

Romeo Jones, Saturday, 26 July 2008 21:23 (seventeen years ago)

damn michael is that an official track list or is that just your golden ear ?

WORDS TO LIVE BY

oscar, Saturday, 26 July 2008 21:25 (seventeen years ago)

who here loves mike mareen's "dancing in the dark"?

or something, Saturday, 26 July 2008 21:28 (seventeen years ago)

Mr Flagio - Take A Chance

one of the first italo tracks i heard and still one of the greatest

harvey dropped it in the middle of his sarcastic disco set in may and i went nuts

san frandisco, Saturday, 26 July 2008 21:46 (seventeen years ago)

Anyone heard the new Strut Records Italio Disco comp and, if so, is it any good? (Unfortunately, I can't link to it from where I am at the moment).

Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 26 July 2008 23:09 (seventeen years ago)

yes, underwhelming

moonship journey to baja, Saturday, 26 July 2008 23:11 (seventeen years ago)

very peculiar selection on that.

oscar - i missed a couple tracks

Michael F Gill, Sunday, 27 July 2008 16:33 (seventeen years ago)

one year passes...

Addition to that Casco tracklist:

30:00 Mito - Droid

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Sunday, 9 August 2009 05:29 (sixteen years ago)

47:00 Klapto - Mister Game
53:00 Cyber People - Polaris
