Hideous Lump (Hideous Lump), Sunday, 13 August 2006 00:32 (nineteen years ago)

Surely "Hey Little Girl" sounds more like Roxy Music.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Sunday, 13 August 2006 00:36 (nineteen years ago)

Bauhaus - "All We Ever Wanted" (out of many candidates from the same tree)

anode (anode), Sunday, 13 August 2006 01:52 (nineteen years ago)

D. Bowie soundalikes permeate carparks.

Surprisingly, the Starlight Mints - "Black Cat"

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 19:08 (nineteen years ago)

Blur - "Look Inside America"

Sounds more like the typical Kinks/XTC influenced Blur number to me.

Famously, Blur's Bugman was practically a song David Bowie DID write (although it wasn't really, because Bowie never got a guitar sound like that and didn't stick three-minute space-is-the-place-boogie-spaz-outs at the end of his songs).

Son of Spam (noodle vague), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 21:49 (nineteen years ago)

Roxy Music's "Manifesto" (the song)

nerve pylon (flat_of_angles), Thursday, 17 August 2006 21:21 (nineteen years ago)

How could I (and everybody else) forget:
Babylon Zoo: Spaceman.

Also even though "Common People" is OTM, I would say the Bowie influence comes through even more in "Lipgloss".

Famously, Blur's Bugman was practically a song David Bowie DID write (although it wasn't really, because Bowie never got a guitar sound like that and didn't stick three-minute space-is-the-place-boogie-spaz-outs at the end of his songs).

And "Bugman" sounds more like The Stooges anyway.
