Have you ever suddenly gotten a dreadful feeling that all of the music you previously thought you liked is actually frivilous and empty and does nothing to satisfy you?

Hey, good luck, dude! You'll not want to ditch the music, though, you'll be needing it soon enough. :)

I remember waking up one Sunday afternoon, after a wild night of booze and women, and I turned on some of the music I had been listening to the night before. I realized that Lil' Jon just wasn't speaking to me anymore. At least not like he used to. It was at that point that I gave up crunk and started listening to underground hip-hop, and I haven't looked back since.

I heard you're getting married
It seemed inevitable to me
Cause i was with you the night you met her
She had you hooked instantly
At the very first i thought it wouldn't last too long
Pretty soon i realized my estimate was wrong
Well i guess it's kinda late now
To say what you already knew
I really wanted you
I know its jealous reaction
But after all that time we spent
She just picked you up and carried you off
I couldnt follow where you went
I'm well aware that certain things just cannot be
But dont deny that there were other possibilities
On the hottest night of the summer
On a sticky, steamy street
I was glowing like the sunset
I knew how happy we could really be
Your suntanned body stretched out on the carpet
In front of me
I know as long as live i'll never lose that memory
Well i guess i shouldn't say no more
You can do what you want to do
I just had to say, i really wanted you

nah. you'll come 'round. massive financial and romantic commitments are (understandably) clouding your judgement!

I KNEW this would be a Jess thread!

Ok, using the """"SHUFFLE"""" feature, I'm going to attempt to test my theory.

1) My Morning Jacket - Lay Low -- Well fuck this song, it was ALWAYS boring.

2) Jay-Z - Wanted Dead or Alive -- never one of my favorites

3) The Advantage - Blaster Master Stage 2 -- I dunno, seems so... childish

4) Deerhoof - News from a Bird -- ok this is a neat little incidental track

5) William Parker - Undertaker's Dance -- eh, pretty run of the mill "out" playing by a wanky Danish altoist on this one

6) Johnny Cash - 25 Minutes to Go -- ok, this song is good, and thematically appropriate -- I think I might even have it playing as people are getting seated at the wedding. I'll always be a sucker for that Tennessee Three train beat.

7) Jim O'Rourke - "Halfway to a Threeway" -- man, I'm really opening myself up to charges of indiefuxordom. This is a great song though.

But gah though, the lyrics are even creepier than I remembered

A-ron Hubbard (Hurting), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 02:34 (nineteen years ago)

8) Donovan - First There Is A Mountain - ok, what's not to love

Music has become so accessible and is often listened to so privately these days that it's easy to get really into something for very specific reasons and not realize how bad it is.

I went through a big twee phase when I was on benzodiazepines and now I'm kinda glad I mostly kept that shit to myself.

Dude, just need to not use the shuffle feature.
