there's absolutely no one else doing what she does, especially in concert with quality amplication. she's got the playing field entirely to herself. if that strikes you as an overstatement, my guess is you haven't seen her live.

Is this all confirmed then? Instal site is still in 2005.

I suppose the only thing is how would that hall/wherever she's playing handle/work with the sounds/effects that she comes up with but other than that its wow from me and everything!

Julio, I got this info from the Arches site. So I guess it's confirmed.

The sound system at the Arches was v. gd (ie LOUD) last year, and the venue itself has loadsa weird acoustical properties/potential (Pauline Oliveros made gd use of the space in 05)

haha ok - oshri penepenz (skelped arse) were fucking aweseome. sounded like the partidge family fronted by a cross between iggy pop and the crazy frog with some sawans in the mix. yeah, that good!

hi jed, sorry I didn't say hello, as I explained to Cozen I was tied up w/ caresitting my w/end companion and was, in consequence, in something of a bad mood for most of the w/end...next time

and yeah, my ears are STILL ringing from Maryanne Amacher's set...I think I might have permanently fucked my hearing by standing near the big speaker stacks at the back for much of her set...fuckin' awesome, tho, def. the highlight of the fest, for me (jazkamer were also insanely loud, but not half as much fun as Hijokaidan)

yeah it was certainly a very mixed bag this year tho. highlights - Amacher, Eye Contact and Oshiri Penpenz. Oshiri penpenz were the one band i would kill to see again. lowlights Testsuya Ameda's metal rods and, i have to say, Jazkammer. other good things - like Kuwayama-Kijima, were completely killed by context, i thought.

i hope my hearing isn't fucked. slightly muffled plus high ringing and i can't say it's any better than it was yesterday.

There for the first night only, throroughly enjoyed Oshiri Penpez - maybe it was just me, but their set seeemed to develop an entirely unexpected rockabilly/surf twang towards the end.

Have to say, perhaps the most overdesigned and hard to read site for one of these events to date (and the competition has been pretty stiff)
