World Waits - Jeremy Enigk

I was wondering who all had heard Enigk's first new album in a decade. I think it's brilliant in a (mostly) subtle way. It reminds me (in spirit) of some of Sam Prekop's work, but not in the way of the sound. And I might already like it better than The Frog Prince...

or... *ahem* The Return of the Frog Queen" depending on how much you gave a shit in the first place, I suppose.

Over all, it's pretty nice, but it really loses its punch around the middle and never makes it back to where it begins. I really like the huge organ part on "Been Here Before," though.

does it sound like return of the frog queen (ie: very orchestrated)? I love that record

I've often felt this way about FROG QUEEN, which seems to get a bit soft in the middle (though the last three cuts clearly regain any lost momentum.)

WORLD WAITS leaked to the Usenet yesterday and it's possibly the strongest album I've heard this year. A production that's fuller that FROG QUEEN with songs that are more accomplished. One of those affairs that demands multiple consecutive plays-- kinda nice as I haven't had one of those in a long while.

one month passes...
I got a free mp3 of Been Here Before when I updated Winamp tonight. Sounds pretty good! I was surprised. I really didn't think much of what I heard of The Fire Theft(SDRE minus one guy), but maybe I heard the wrong stuff.
