I wonder which people here actually spend the most time listening to it. Here's my breakdown based on estimates.

via PC and headphones, at work: 9 hours
via PC, at home: 10 hours
via other devices at home e.g. CD/record player: 90 mins
social/public (shopping, clubbing, in the pub etc.)/incidental: 5 hours
watching music videos on TV: 1 hour

28 hours a week of music
just over 1/7 of the week

hmmm.

driving: 50 minutes round trip monday through thursday, so 3 hours 20. then weekend errands and going in between social events, let's say another two hours. so 5:20. then i am often on the road for work, so let's work in another hour. and then another 40 minutes for getting lunch and stuff. so, 7 hours.

hanging out at home: two hours a day, minimum, but more on other days, so let's say, um, 18?

music at pubs/clubs/parties: let's say 4.

live music: 1 to 2 hours

31 hours a week. huh. good for me.

maybe something like 50-60 hours a week plus a few hours of playing music myself. it always varies. some days i listen to album after album after album after etc. and other days i listen to an album here, an album there.

I calculate 56 hours also. In that I spend 8 hours a day on the computer ( :( ), and have music playing right through while I'm busy with some task or other.

Although the majority of that is drawn from a small collection of really familiar stuff I've heard thousands of times already, because when I'm doing something else I don't really want to listen to the music, just to have something familiar churning away in the background. In terms of actual avid listening time, 5 hours, maybe.

actually including mp3 player time, I probably spend the majority of my waking hours listening to something or other.

Flopsy (Flopsy), Saturday, 2 September 2006 16:32 (nineteen years ago)

My estimation is roughly 35 hours a week. Maybe even more.

I think, in my case, the question should be "how many hours a week are you NOT listening to music?" I feel like my headphones are now part of my organism- sleep included.
