So I have this friend who's super-into everything Circle, to the point of being on a first-name basis with most of the band. He's pressed a lot of their records into my hands and turned me into a committed fan, but he's so into them that every time I ask him, "so which one do I get next?" I just get sort of a baffled stare in return. I dig the Faust-y space rock / space folk more than the overt metal, or at least of the stuff I've heard I do because their take on metal seems pretty clenched.
These guys have a ton of stuff out and a lot of the older stuff is hard to find, so I guess what I'm looking for is some help sorting through all the various records and side projects for the releases that are most perfectly Circle-y. Also, I have a really hard time imagining Circle doing stoner metal, so I'm having a hard time figuring out what exactly Pharoah Overlord's supposed to be all about. Descriptions / recommendations / scathing putdowns all welcome.
